GSDPACK

Ok people find the time and look at this nonsence.
EVERYBODY needs to know about this. it will happen to every state if we do not educate people about this.
This makes me sick.. instead maybe lookinginto doing it the right way.. maybe they should ask FCI how to do it right and they will get rid off puppy mills.
Who gives some jon Doe from PETA right to tell me that I can not breed y male more than twice in his lifetime.. are you kiddind NEVADA??????

Ok.. WTF. I know there are people who overbreed their animals. But TWICE IN THEIR LIFETIME?! Animals in the wild breed much more often than that! You can breed a male much more than that and he'd still be healthy. You can breed a female more than that and she'll still be fit as a fiddle! Oh, but let me guess. They're trying to reduce the amount of pets? That's fine and dandy when you're talking about irresponsible breeders and but what is this gonna do to all the purebreed breeders that breed for health and confirmation, and work their dogs too? This is just ridiculous! What is this going to do to many breeds as a whole? This is no good. Not at all.

I can't believe they are trying to introduce something like this in the State of Nevada, typically a state where freedom is considered paramount. Remember, Nevada repealed the no-spank-your-kids laws when juvenile delinquency got out of hand some 10 years ago... If things keep going the way they are we'll all be freezing our asses off in Wyoming in order to breed our dogs.
Either that, or we will be raising stud fees and puppy prices to cover the fines when we break the law!

No, it is going to force breeders to sell after the 2 breedings. Or cooporating kennels will trade dogs (out of state) to get around this.
This makes me sick, the dogs again will be not getting forever homes.

How the hell do they think they are going to enforce this crap?

Maybe some breeders will co-op as 1doggie says but my guess is that many will simply leave or quit.  And in they're wake will be the large and small pet stores.  Breeders, good or bad, drive the pet industry PERIOD.  (I spek from expirience on this one)  So the sales tax loss to NV will be tremendous if this thing goes through.  They'll get exactly what they deserve.

And isn't anyone telling them that these hsus/peta people ARE NOT EXPERTS? Why do we not have a veterinarian/trainer/breeder in our pocket to speak out publicly & loudly about this bullshit? We have no media aware, articulate, activists speaking on the behalf of of breeders & breed enthusiasts---you never see this crap on the nightly news....you see the hsus/peta/Oprah version!!! Isn't there some half way intelligent celeb willing to speak up on behalh on their beloved fuzzy-poo & his breeder????? How about the VP? He's a GSD person, too! Someone needs to step up on our behalf, & we need to set things in motion to alert the press to our side of the issue in a timely fashion....using the 'loss of liberties' arguement, or something! Damn! jh

Until breeders (and by this I mean those who are doing it correctly, not puppy mills) and the rescue/shelter people (and by this I do not mean the lunatics from HSUS and PETA) come together and realize that they are truly fighting the same battle which is to eliminate sub-standard breeding practices which produce the overwhelming amount of un-wanted dogs (and cats) in this country it will not change.
If we can eliminate the millions of pets that needlessly die in shelters and pounds every year in this country because ol' Bubba was too stupid to prevent his female from getting pregnant every time she goes in to heat and we can eliminate the likes of the Andrew Hunte's of the world who teach puppymillers how to produce as many puppies as possible each and every year we might get somewhere.

Those are the people that we should be fighting against not each other.

If we keep fighting each other the only thing in the end that suffers is the dogs. There will always be poorer and poorer quality dogs being produced. It is hard enough to produce quality dogs when you are breeding from good stock and, in turn, trying to explain to your potential customer why they should pay $1200-$???? for the puppy that you produced because you have a dog that you spent hundreds of hours training and titling and painstakingly researched other dogs so that you might be lucky enough to produce a nice litter when there is a puppy down the street for $150 because that person loves their dog so much and just had to have a puppy from him or her.

If we can work together and eliminate the mass production of puppies on the commercial end and also work on doing as much as possible to educate irresponsible dog (and cat) owners then we might be able to move forward and make progress.
Each needs to try as hard as possible to see the other side. Try to stop concentrating on the lunatics.
Educate the rescue person about the effort you put in to breeding a quality litter. They will be impressed by how much you care about doing things the right way.
In turn, go visit a county pound. I'm not talking about a fancy one where some of the animals live better than some of us. Go to a rural area where they euthanize litter after litter of puppies because they can't even afford to feed them. Help the person that is loading the gas chamber with ten 7 week old puppies and watch them die. You might have a little better understanding of their point of view.
I know that some of you are sitting there thinking that "I didn't create the problem", but, if you don't acknowlege that it exists you are part of the problem just like the nut bag at PETA that won't take the time to understand you. The difference is that you are capable of working on and finding a solution. They are not! If you are smart enough to, and, can take the time to draw a line in the sand and un-shoulder your rifle then be smart enough to work together with the right people to solve the problem. It usually takes a lot less effort than fighting
Again, it is the animals who are suffering, not us!
