OMG-people just are too heartless for words! In 2006, a toddler wandered out an open window in the greater Philadelphia area onto a flat roof. He didn't fall to his death because the family German Shepherd Dog followed him out the window, barking continuously, until some adult investigated & rescued the baby. He saved the toddlers life! It made local Philly news.......& tonight, it made the ABC nightly news that the very same dog was found abandoned in the family's home; neighbors called authorities because they could hear the dog inside the home for the TWO MONTHS since the family had left the home! He is with animal control officers, who say he is dehydrated but recovering, they're trying to track down the family to find out why the dog was abandoned. They also said the dog was dejected, but responding to the control officers affectionate gestures. Poor Alfie! May he find a forever home with someone who actually values him! jackie harris

Would you expect less from a "human being" who leaves a baby unsupervised climb out a second story window?  Nothing people do surprises me anymore. I'm sure someone will take him in and love him.

this makes my physically ill.  i will never really understand people. it sounds like the folks caring for him will do right by him - i hope some great people step forward and give him the home he deserve.

i ran a search and found this link http://cbs3.com/topstories/Alfie.Dog.Southwest.2.972495.html

the last paragraph says:

The SPCA fears Alfie may have to be put down because of her temperament and the conditions she has been living in, instead of putting her up for adoption.

Oh my that's horrible!  I often wonder how people can do that to animals.  I mean really...is it that hard to call the SPCA yourself and say something like, I have to move, can't take the dog, I have to hand her in to you for safe keeping...find her a good home ?

Heartless, thoughtless, despicable.  It's our throw away society.  I have friends that have sorely disappointed me when I've learned they had to "give up" their pet for one reason or another.  They always have an excuse but usually it boils down to the fact they didn't do their homework and now the pet has become a pest, a burden, too much to deal with, whatever.  I might still be friendly to these people but I can never see them without thinking less of them.  These people should be put in jail to rot.  Hang in there Alfie, surely some GSD rescue will come for you.
