A friend has a seven year old male GSD, two nights ago his dog started drooling was uncoordinated and aggressive towards him as if he did not recognized him, his appetite is normal though. He was taken to the vet they ran a battery of tests and everything came back within the norm, however the dog begun to have seizures, he had to be heavily sedated if they allow the drug to wear off he begins seizures again. Has anyone experienced anything like this? He is presently hospitalized and more tests are being done.

Could be anything regards to brain involvement from your description...Tumor, encephalitis, brain abscess..... even rabies. There is no test for rabies unless you do a brain biopsy. If the dog truly had continiously seizures, then his brain is not functioning normally anymore. Even if the dog should live, he will be unpredictable.

Could be some kind of poisoning, too.
My dog had seizures after a rabies vaccine 8 years ago.
Hard to tell much from the given info. Hope he pulls through.

I had a dog that was sensitive to DHEA in dog food. He had weird connvulsive behaviour for a few days until the dogfood was changed. It never came back.

The dog is in the right place, the hospital. There are a myriad of possibilities, including brain, or other neurological problem, to metabolic problems, to cardiac, to toxins etc. Hopefully the vets will be able to diagnose and treat. If the cause of the seizures can be found and appropriately treated, there is no reason to believe that the dog cannot do ok. And a dog who is aggressive during a seizure is just that. It does NOT mean the dog will always be aggressive from here on out (except possibly during seizures, depending on what is causing them). Like so many cases of epilepsy in dogs, they may not be able to figure out a cause and then they have to see if they can stabilize the dog so it is not seizing all the time. Status epilepticus, meaning the dog seizes and seizes without coming out of it is life-threatening. So at a minimum, they have to get that stopped.
Good luck to your friend and his dog.

dear sean please pass my best wishes to your friend i hope asolution and a diagnosis is found for your friend i feel for him as i,ve had two litter sisters have unexplained seizures.the first sister aged three.they put it down to idiopathic epilepsey.tho.im still not sure that was the real reason for the seizures.the other sister i found having continuous seizures one morning when i went to let her out of her kennel.i took her straight to the vets but i had to have her put to sleep.i hope your friends dog pulls thru..the other one was also put to sleep after 6 weeks on medication as she developed breathing problems and there was some problem with her blood counts.vet decided that in the end she had cancer.the other sister was aged just over 7 and hadnt had any seizure before these fatal ones.hope your friend has a better prognosis.
