Hi All,

There wasn't anything going on in the Boston Terrier section of the PDB, so figured I'd try here.

My brother and sister in law have decided that they are going to get a dog and they like Boston Terriers.  I at least talked them into going to a breeder since they were out at puppy stores one day!  YIKES!

Anyone know of any breeders in the NJ area?

And what kinds of health certifications do folks look for?

Thanks!
Kathy

offa.org for health cert's

akc for breeders

boston terriers are devil dogs, why do they want one?

last one i saw had a death grip on my old aussie's belly. I kicked the poop out of that dog, and the vet gave my aussie 3 stitches.

my dog was on a leash, the devil dog ran out and bit my dog. the owner didn't pay for the vet bill.

Well his other choice was a JRT!  LOL

Actually saw some nice ones at the office that I worked at.

Boston Terriers are way cool little dogs.

If I ever buy a little house dog that is what it will be.

A Terrier can be as fierce as any breed, just comes in a smaller package.
Stay away from commercial breeders.
Learn about the breed before you buy.
And plan on obedience training same as any other breed.
Always look into references.

I'm hoping to get some leads on breeders for them and steer them in the right direction.

Bad enough they were out looking at pet shops a couple of weeks ago!  At least they didn't come home with anything and was able to talk them into going to a breeder.  Now, just have to find a good one!

Funny, how I know exactly what I'd be looking for in a GSD breeder, but not for these guys.

Heading to bed now, will check back in the A.M.

owners tend to think that the agressive behavior is "cute" in small dogs.

its not, its a liability, and makes a really bad neighbor.

Rezkat,
The same things apply.
Stay local, avoid the internet unless its nearby and can be visited in person.

Check standards, breeding, and the breeder just like you would any breed.

Moons gave good advice.
My neighbor has one and that's a cool little dog.... and I'm not a small dog fan at all.
One of his relatives used to breed them, don't know if they still do or not. I will see if I can get some info for you or a reference on a breeder.
