This black and tan GSD just friggin' flatened this helper in this video ( at 4 minutes into it or so). It looks he literally just knock him down front on.

When I saw it, I was like, DAMN, this is a NFL-worthy GSD linebacker...

Videos from 2004 AWDF competition.

I don't know, when you watch the slow mo replay from the other angle, it looks like he tripped himself right before the dog hit the sleeve, and then the dog finished him off.  Nice bitework though.

That is Terry Macias dog Eik. Asko von der Lutter son.

He was well known for taking decoys down. He was one of my favorite GSD's I ever saw work. Damn good dog.

For the life of me I don't know why people did not breed to this dog? Guess he wasn't pretty enough.

Like I said, Damn good dog.

It's pretty enough to me and it looks like a damn gooddog you are right.

To the other poster: yes, from the 2nd angle it does not look that impressive, although still cool BUT. It looks, not that he tripped, the dog went straight on at him, hitting the chest and pushing him backwards, then the tripping occured,  cause as it's well known in aikido - a self defense matrial art, humans cannot walk very efficiently backwards if the force is applied at the front, therefore - knockdown.

At about the 6 min mark there's another take down. The dog just lays the decoy out!

Well it looks to me like the dogs were going elbow side and the helper tried to take them hand side. If the dog came with enough force and power, it would not allow the helper to change the dogs direction.

It,s videos and moments like these that remind me to make sure you take care of your helpers, I,ve seen dogs take down helpers in some hard hits and am more amazed when I see a helper falling and can tell his main concern is the well being of the dog at hand.

Eik vom Nordenstamm is one of my favorite all time dogs. Helpers respected him when they stepped on a field with him. And if they didn't, they did when they left.

Any one a decoy here they should be able to tell you exactly why this decoy went down.his footing is all wrong.
if you watch the vedio check the decoy's right foot that is where his biggest problem was. have a nice one.

Eik - outstanding dog.  He took many a helper down flat.  And no they didn't trip LOL -

I wanted to breed to him and planned on it, the trip to CA just never happened.  Wish I had.
