Can someone tell me the best source of information to teach a dog tracking for his Schutzhund 1 title?

Thanks

Join a good club. I don't let novices track on their own.

The best advice is like they've said...join a club or get with some that can help you...but if you want to read about it...Gary Patterson has a very good book out that a novice can understand and will help you from the beginning...There are others out there too but they go into deep detail and it's not easy for someone new to understand it...
Where are you located and maybe someone on the board can hook you up with somebody that can help you out...

Tracking is really not that difficult.  The track teaches the dog to track.  You don't teach a dog to track, you lay tracks that teach the dog how to track.  Their are many good books on tracking, like Patterson's.  The best video I've seen on tracking is Joanne Plumbs.  This is an excellent resource for getting started in tracking.  If you belong to a club go out tracking with club members, watch how they lay their tracks.  Get out to some seminars.  I just saw debbie Zappia at a seminar.  Her methods for tracking were incredible and I certainly learned a lot.  I would recommend getting Joanne Plumbs videos and getting out to a seminar if you can.  Debbie Zappia would be awesome.  Get out and track with some club members.  don't get discouraged, tracking is fun.  There really aren't any great mysteries to SchH tracking.  The more you do it (correctly) the better your dog will get.

The other day I ran across a very detailed and well written article that Ravi wrote about tracking.  With his permission, I am posting this link to it:
