Whoa, what replies. It is hard to remember what the questions were BUT.I have been doing this for 25 years. I have whelped hundreds of puppies., I am not new to this. I have some born dead, some die after being born, with in hours. All in sterile whelping boxes, heat lamps and yes, me with my beach chair just watching. I always make sure they eat as soon as they can. I don't think that a dog that lives in a house or in a kennel makes a difference. I have raised many, many puppies. i had a Robby son that I bred to my Sagus Daughter and my Orry daughter and my Lord daughter. They are all gone now so this is a new batch of dogs.I never had problems then.I always handle my puppies and make sure everything is sterile. If it were a disease it would show in the autopsy, that is what is such a mystery. |

What dog food she eats?
Any suppliments/vitamins/
If it is virul it would be harmless to the mother but harmful to pups. Take a milk sample and a saliva sample and have them tested.
The area that she urinates and poops at maybe another cause. Change areas and and throw some new grass seed down. The germination will kill what may be there if anything.
If she eats her poop this could be enough to infect the milk and saliva.
PM me so I send you my email. I really want to know how this turns out. I will be having my first litter early 2010. I think I am ready.

Sorry to come on so strong,
that is very unusual to lose so many when you are taking precautions to make sure it's a clean enviroment.
I don't want to be a wise ass, but maybe it is too sterile, think of what you were doing before when you had healthy
litters & everyone was fine. I try & stay away from certain dog shows when I have litters due, you can bring home some
dangerous germs from show sites.
I will take my shoes off at the door before entering my house after attending a show, get some bleach & water and step
into it, to kill the germs, and I will avoid letting the dogs that went to the show interact with the preg-o dogs, for atleast a day.
Also, worming dogs right before you breed them, gets them off to a good start.
Good luck getting to the bottom of things,
Paula
