My bitch is very itchy around the neck and shoulders.  Well. Maybe most places.  She is due for her season.  Is this normal?  Thank you

I DONT MEAN TO GO OFF TOPIC BUT MY GF GETS REAL ITCHY IN HER ARMPITS WHEN SHE IS FEELING FRISKY. SHE WORKS AT KFC AND HER ARMPITS SMELL JUST LIKE THE COLONELS SECRET RECIPE. ITS REALLY HOT.

The heat cycle stresses the bitch's system. If she's prone to demodex, it can trigger an outbreak. That's why it's highly recommended bitches with demodex be spayed. (It's also an inheritable weakness, which is another reason not to breed her.)

I'd suggest you get your vet to check her out, so if it is demodex, it can be caught early.

I have a bitch who always seems to get itchy at this time, I can't find any obvious skin problem, so maybe its hormonal?

Bitches blow their coats before a heat cycle and lots of dead hair dries out your skin and the only way to get it out (besides grooming) ......

A little boost in their EFA consumption at this time often helps and frequent groomings to get all that dead hair and skin out.

Demodex is also a concern but you will normally see some hair loss and most often its around the face and ears although I have seen some on the legs

Just the joys of being a girl.. mom always told me it hurts to be beautiful!! LOL!

Zaki,
Why can't you just answer the question?

My bitch gets itchy, and she backs up to the kennel links so my male can scratch it.
She gets very playful and becomes a shameless tease.
The wife calls her a slut, but I know shes truely in love.
If she's scratching her neck I figure its something else.
Moons.

My girl is spayed now, but she had gone through two heat cycles and both times she was much itchier than usual just before and during her heat.
