Our bitch is just coming up to 8mths and had her first bath today, had to she was covered in mucjk after rolling around in the fields. Absolutely loved it. Had more trouble getting her out. However my main question is , she was weighed today. Weighs 70lbs ( at 8 mths ) so we are just wondering how big she is going to get as this is the first German Shepherd we have owned.

My 2 yr old girlie actually got pretty chubby right at 8/9 months, around her first heat cycle.. I had to cut her food back by about a third at that point. She got up to about 74 lbs,

when she should really be about 65 for her frame. She's 67 right now, a couple pounds of winter weight still need to come off!

Her season will have a dramatic effect on her metabolism. My femal was up to around 5 or 6 cups of food a day at 9 months. Then, she had her first heat at a year old, and when it was over, her metabolism slowed way, way down, and I cut her food nearly in half. Same thing happened this year, too. She lost her appetite after the heat was finished.

70 lbs. does sound a bit heavy for a 8 month old. How tall is she?

my male pup is 5 mouths today weight is 53 pounds is about 21 inches how tall and how much do you think he will weight. my females both are going on 2 and are 65 pounds.

Bella weighted 80 lbs at 9 months but may have dropped a few pounds following her first heat. I was a little worried as she's only been eating about half as much lately. Didn't know it was normal. I thought maybe see missed her playmates.

Eric -- an 8 month female is close to her final size, although she will may gain a few pounds of muscle.

She should be within 1/2" - 3/4" (1-2cm) of her final height, and within 5-10 lbs of her final weight, unless she is very thin.

A proportionate adult female of 24" should be 70-75 lbs, so she is just right so far.

Expect 24 1/2" and 75-80 lbs at 3 yo.
