Most people agree on the dosage, but I have some people mixing it with other substances to make it easier to give. What are anyones recomendations. I am not going to use heartguard anymore its just too darm expensive for our dogs. People have used Ivomectrin for years with great results just would like opinions, Thanks

Not to be rude, but the name is   Ivemectin    1 % sterile soulution    and make sure you do not buy the bottle that says

Ivomec  is correct on label..

IVOMEC  PLUS is not to be used........

DO NOT USE THE ONE THAT HAS THE WORD PLUS ON THE BOTTLE...

AN  ingredient not needed in dogs  just for cattle...use in mouth , back squirt into throat , give some raw meat or cheese or soft treat to help the taste..

I never mix or use any other method.  Putting on food wastes it , but that is my opinion.  do it any way you want.

Been squirting in back of mouth for many years.

Please remember that when you are working with Ivermectin, the ivermectin 1% sterile solution is 10mg/ml. Now the dose for dogs is in micrograms. So 1 mg (milligram) has 1000 mcg (microgram) in it.  For each ml ( milliliter) there is
10 x1000 = 10,000 mcg per each ml. There are so many times I see over doses happening when you are mixing it with other stuff. Do each dose individually then add it to something like a small amount of water.  Syringe orally as usual to the back of the throat. I hope this helps.

Always,
Cee

ask your vet exactky what each dog's dosage should be, if he/she won't say, find another vet

Make sure your dogs do not have existing Heartworms. If they do dosing them with Ivermectin could very well kill them.

I am pretty sure that is one of the wormers the vet gives our horses are you saying i can use it on my gsd instead of heart guard and it will do the same thing for them the heart guard is very expensive and we all like to save money but i wont do it at the cost of my friends health.
