Why do these people get under my skin so bad? - Page 1

 I just have a serious problem with these so called breeders here in the US who are claiming to provide people with the highest quality Shepherds and that they are advancing teh breed. They have this no name kennel and tehn I look at their dogs and I try my best not to write them and ask are you serious? Are you joking? The dogs are underage most of the time, under 2 and none of them are trained in Sch or have any titles whatsoever. It just annoys me. These people don't understand that they are killing the breed. Most have no idea what they are doing and just take a male Shepherd and a female and decide to let them have puppies because they see dollar signs in their eye balls. I know a lot of breeders here in the US that are doing good by the breed and are advancing the breed here. Some people should be banned from breeding. I personally think teh AKC is a joke with no rules in place. The AKC needs more regulations and rules like the SV. If we had this there would be way more less backyard breeding....and frontyard

Maybe your looking in all the wrong places Cat.
Stay away from these big kennels and check out some of the backyard breeders in your area.

How dear you name somebody Hitler for expressing their opinion which i think is more tan acurate.
People here in America breed dogs and they pt all sorts of darn dogs together and sell them for $$$. I breed dogs myself and tell you the truth i love the GSD breed that is EXACTLY WHY i will follow the rules of FCI. Because people are Lazy ASSES and dont put the time nor effort into the darn dog doesn't make the person who plays by rules and clear conscious mind

You can find good breeders and you can get screwed.   Its all in how you go about it.
Has nothing to do with back yards or so called top breeders.
Real top breeders have a long well earned reputation.   All you have to do is make informed decisions and use good judgement.

 Moons, I have some goos Shepherds. I am not looking for a dog. I know where I go for good dogs. I am just pissed everytime I open up my paper, I see people trying to sell their Shepherd puppies who have no idea what they are doing. Backyard breeders are just that. These are the people that are killing the Shepherd here. GSDPACK is teh only one who understands what I am saying..And please stop with teh Cat..Its Catawba...Liek the Indian Tribe

If it wasn't clear, though, I will say a second time that I fully agree with you.

It is frustrating.  More so when you meet the people that end up buying these dogs because they just don't know any better.

They assume that AKC means the dog MUST be a quality dog.

I hate the term "back yard breeder".  There are good breeders and bad breeders, good bloodlines and bad bloodlines.  The term "bad breeder" is a more apt term to describe breeders that don't care about the quality of their dogs.
