After going to crufts i have to say the germanic side of gsds should be ashamed of themselves as what i saw was laughable because all dogs bar the english types all needed to be held upright in the free stand to stop them falling over, either using a bear hug technique or a foot behind the standing foot and a leg in the hind quarters to keep it upright and this was the same for every dog.all english types free stood one their own with no help and were not called from out side of the ring, double handling i believe. a poor show in my book.not one person showing a germanic was dressed smart except one lady who handled a few dogs, every one esle was wearing trainers and tee shirts. Is it not Crufts we were all at the best dog show in the world??? If it had been a judge who used the uk breed standard no dog that got placed would have.I hope they use a judge next time who after ten years of trying is a lover of english types and not the bannana backs on show.I hope they do split the breed it will be the best thing that ever happened as i will never use a germanic dog ever in my breeding if they try to bring them together.I am sure i speek for all english type gsd lovers all over the world and the ones that saw Crufts. I would love to know what everone thinks.cheers gsd lover.

Well done for someone speaking up at the pathetic gsd,s at crufts, some of them looked like freaks. The gsd is a working dog but what i saw made me fear for the future of the breed. where will it all end.The english types to me are the correct type not what they were 20 years ago when they were too heavy. The proper gsd is getting all too difficult to find in mind and body.

What is wrong did you own 1 of the English ones in the class with places withheld?

True gsds... by "Germanic side", are we to assume you mean the correct type, recognised and bred the world over?

Have you shown any of your dogs in Germany, or indeed, in any other country?

Yes, we should split... then you can have your Alsatians and we can have our correct German Shepherds... did YOU "sign" the petition on David Payne's website?

As for the dress standard... well... you may have a point, but "we" like to think that everyone's looking at our great DOGS, because... it's a DOG show!

Why bitch?  Just get your facts right and show under judges who specialise in promoting an incorrect type of dog... you'll clearly do well.

there were a few dogs there that i didn't feel were good examples of the breed and most were English type, the one Germanic dog that i really didn't like was obviously ill or having a bad day lol

I was surprised that the judge was throwing the middle of the road type out with the rubbish  as there were some very nice dogs but he was very fair and lesko deserved his place.

i think missbeeb gave you some sound advice there stick with the "special shows" then you can show your coffee table off to its full potential.

sorry, lol

GSD breeders should boycott Crufts,it's been biased against the breed for decades.
Last year was the first time I had watched it for years and nothing had changed, the judging in Zamp's Group was laughable,Zamp wasn't even placed.
The judge wasn't worthy enough to be in the same building as Zamp never mind judge him,she should be judging home baking competitions.

gsm44 - 'should have gone to specsavers'  where were you last year not at Crufts! Zamp won his class DCC & BOB. So how do you work out he was not placed! Oh by the way the Judge was MALE and should not have been at home judging a baking competition. How much have you had to drink it's clouded your mind!!!! I found a couple of UK side attracting their dogs those that were strung up with cheese wire that is!
Well said jim h Cruft's is about dogs and not  some one's clothes.
As for true gsd  the Germanic side being scruffy the one thing we don't do is bitch to the Judge's wife when we we loose nor do we wish them dead and we don't shout obsenities at the steward who was only doing her job. Don't dare to say that the UKers don't do this I was there and witnessed it! Your side should be well and truly ashamed. I found this a disgusting display of poor sportmanship totally appalling!  I am so pleased with the K.C to find that for the past 9 - 10 years they have choosen the correct Judge for GSD's at Cruft's and even better the correct type of GSD wins - and so it will be next year 2010 the correct type of judge.
Bring on the split the sooner the better.
