I keep getting an error message when I bring that thread up, so I had to start over.
Smartguy....read a little more carefully. See the part where I said "IF SHE'S NOT GOING TO JAPAN? Yeah. It's there. Right near the parts where I said it's unfortunate for you that you got called out for shoving your face in the pic. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough about those being QUESTIONS. Instead of just answering simply that your wife was going, you went off about "not knowing where I got my information." Um... I don't have any information, which was why I asked about your wife and your other 2 dogs.
Brittany, why don't you try the same thing, and READ what I wrote, then do your very best to understand it, and if you still can't, let me know and I will try to help you as best I can. I think that is preferable to reading every 4th word and drawing really back-asswards conclusions. I am disrespectful, and I don't apologize. Respect is earned. I don't give a rat's ass what the guy does with his dogs, and I didn't have pimples, even as a teenager. Just lucky I guess.
As a refresher to those who have comprehension issues, THIS is what I asked:
Smartguy, what about the 2 dogs in your sig pic? Are you keeping them, if they're yours?
Unfortunately for you, someone found your ad amusing and called a lot of attention to it, so you are under scrutiny for something that tons of people do all the time.
Why can't your wife take care of her if she's not going to Japan? And am I misunderstanding, or is it that you MIGHT go to Japan...and you MIGHT go to NC?

Sorry but I have to say, you are in the military and you shouldn't own more than 2 dogs. You know damn well YOU don't get to plan anything, as in (staying in the states). The military ownes your ass and you must be ready to do as they ask.
When I moved to our first duty station, it was the first time in my life, I was dogless. I left my female GSD with my mother in California, not knowing what to expect from the military or the area we moved to. Thank God because we couldn't manage to find a home to rent, only a 4plex (no pets) When we went TDY to Germany 16 months later, I went and got my dog and brought her with me to Mannheim. We bought our 2nd GSD while there and when I came back to the states, they both flew with me and my daughter. By then I knew the rules and would not have purchased another dog.
Rules have changed further and dogs over a certain weight are not allowed to live on base aymore in housing, so no GSD'd because I think it's a 45lb rule. If you had one bigger you could keep it but you couldn't bring another one in. I never lived on base in the states but if we had stayed in the military life, I would not have "chanced it". Living off base with dogs was ok but what if we moved and had no choice?
You have no excusses, you know the rules and how things work. Ya got greedy and wanted another dog for your own selfish reasons and now you are getting rid of her. You got called out and now your mad. Brittany is right, it's your dog and your free to do with her what you like, after all Brit bred that hideous thing she calls a GSD against everyones better judgment. Does it make it right? Everybodies got an opinion.

Meow, saucer of milk for Jenni78. The guy is young and made a mistake of getting a puppy without realizing that he could be transferred that quickly. Ok, he should have thought it through a little better; being in the military. At least he was honest for his reasons for needing to find the pup a new home and is taking the appropriate steps. I'm sure his breeder will take the pup back for him and he also has other people that will hold the pup till he finds it a new home if he has too. His second mistake was posting that goofy picture, which some enjoyed and some really had a major issue with.
Rather, than chastising the guy why not spend a few minutes giving him some helpful advice or think of someone who might want a nice working dog. Good luck finding a home for the pup if you get transferred. I hope it works out for you. I'll keep my ears open for someone looking for a nice GSD. She has a really good working line pedigree. Maybe, you could post the info on Germanshepherds.com. That is a good forum as well, not quite as judgemental as this one has become.
FWIW,
Jim

Alyssa and 4pack were 10x harder on him than I was (not saying I totally disagree, just pointing out a fact); I simply asked why his wife couldn't take care of the dog (she's coming to Japan) and if he was keeping his other two.
I don't need milk; I was weaned long ago.

No, I'm not immune to life. In fact, I waited several YEARS to get my current dog, BECAUSE of life. I took into consideration military schools, deployements, and the age of my son.
The difference between an act of G-d, like a fire, and a military permanant change of station, like yours, is that no one can PREDICT a fire.
I can predict with ABSOLUTE certainty that anyone serving in the Regular USMC, Army, Air Force or Navy, will be subject to PCS. Typically every 3 years.
No one can predict a fire, and it isn't necessarily going to happen to everyone. But PCS WILL happen to members of the Regular Armed Forces.
Nice deflection, though.
Man up and accept responsibility.
You screwed up, so don't blame the situation on the military- blame the person who bought a dog despite knowing PCS is a reality.
