I have been trying to work with him on his bite and with the ball. Now that it is getting warmer, we will be doing a lot of work outside. Hoping to start obedience classes within the month.
I have some more pictures that I took I will put a few more on there tomorrow or something....
BTW...Does anyone know a good place to purchase a choke collar?

UberLand. I would simply ask that if your going to make a statement like that, then please provide an explanation. It does me no good to use your answer, because that is teaching me nothing.
Why a choke collar? Ok, well I happen to work for a hospital that now has 4 K9 teams. I am being told that I should switch to a choke collar. A lot of the guys dont believe in hitting their dog. They believe that a nice tug and a verbal NO! is the right way to do things.
I too believe this. Now, if this can be accomplished without a choke collar then I am all for it. If the collar that he currently has on will work then great no need for a choke collar(slip collar). I just thought that the choke collar would be a better route and would be a bit more gentle on him than a straight collar.
Perhaps I am wrong, this is where you guys can educate me rather than giving me the 3rd degree when I ask something or make a statement such as this one.
If you dont believe that a choke collar is for a 4 month old GSD then tell me why.
This is the collar that I was looking at : www.dog.com/item/adj-choke-collar/
Thanks,
Eric

Here is what I was told when I got my Zavien (in my avatar) from my schutzhund trainer. With Zavien even him being over the top confident, and not sensitive on correction he would not let me put a pinch (prong) collar on him until he was almost 2 years old (this includes a choke collar). He would not have me give him corrections, or hard commands. He just had me play with him in obedience, and do the tracking and bite work with praise. Zavien drove me nuts, but the dog can work and he is very serious at it.
I guess what I'm trying to say is don't rush it with the choke collar/commands and let the 4 month old puppy be a puppy. Let him grow into his confidence and then you will have the dog you have always wanted. If you need to correct him then I would just do it on his flat collar for now, nothing serious just a light tug. I can go on and on but I'm not into typing a whole page out :-) JMO

Before 6 month the trachea (the pipe we're the air is inhale or exhale) is still soft..you could hurt it or make it collapse.
Is this a really hard dog so he need a choke collar?(sometimes we don't have a choice)
Usually before 6 month I try to train with a lot of fun and praise and with only a nylon collar. Be careful with is mouth..he is teething right now and if you hurt his mouth he can associate pain and bite work..not so good!
I don't believe in hittin a dog...but I do think 4 months is a little to young for a choke collar IMO Take your time and have fun..
