Hello,
I am currently fostering this girl until she goes to rescue on Saturday. I knew who the breeders were all along because we have her registration papers- it was just their current contact information I was having trouble with. When I was not sucessful finding that information, I arranged for a suitable rescue placement. She is safe and well, and wants desperately to bond with someone.
Stormy was ostensibly relinquished to the Bloomington Shelter last weekend because the people were moving. However, they kept their other dog and noted that Stormy had "seperation anxiety". They also noted she was friendly, protective, playful, and loves kids.
She is a lovely dog, very people focused, does not really care to have much to do with other dogs - much more interested in people. She has some basic obedience, but that is about it, and does not like to be crated, although she is better with that now that she is being fed in her crate.

n my experience, I have noted that few people tell the truth when dumping a dog. This is another reason why experience and being able to read between the lines is so important. Often a dog does ok too for a little while because it is holding back, but once comfortable in new surroundings, begins to exhibit behavior that is problematic. This is another reason why people involved in rescue need to be experienced. Otherwise, they end up with serious problems and often no where to turn.
Good luck placing her.
Good luck placing her.

That is why I wanted her pulled from the shelter and placed with a good rescue for awhile before she is rehomed, so she has time to settle down and be assessed realistically. Right now, she is very anxious and would be quite destructive trying to get to people if left to her own devices. I have her either kenneled, or with me on a lead.
I did not think she was a dog the could be properly placed from the shelter situation, but she is much too nice a dog to give up on.

Good to hear! I also agree Hodie. People never tell the truth about dropping off. When I was at HSNT we saw it all of the time, a new baby, moving, not housebroken,a biter, but they would never be upfront and honest about the animal in question and how sad of them. If you need a little donation to help with the girl let me know.

Good luck Sarah,
It sounds like you have the situation in hand and the dog is very lucky she was pulled by someone who knows how to deal with her. Hopefully, you can find a forever and appropriate home.
Thanks for your comments too Jerry. Looks like you have also seen it all.

I just had Stormy out to play, and now she is much more relaxed and ready for a nap. This girl has plenty of drive, and loves balls. She and my male both had a nice run chasing balls in different directions. She ran out of breath way before she ran out of drive <g>. Thank goodness for a ball thrower.
Now she is calm enough that she will let me be on the other side of a baby gate from her- on Monday she just busted right through the gate to get to me. She should sleep better tonight.

Sarah,
Thank you for helping this dog. Is there anything we can do to help?

Thanks to everyone for their interest in Stormy. I think we have everything we need for now, and she is a sleepy and happy girl tonight. Currently she is asleep by my feet, tethered to the desk so she does not get any ideas about chasing cats, my male is asleep on my other side and my own sable female is busy gaurding the hall. Stormy is much more relaxed since her play session- she will have several of those tomorrow.
I am hoping that when I drive her up to meet the rescue folks on Saturday, I will be able to arrange for a herding session for my boy as well- then it will be a doubly good trip.
