I am looking into a grandson of Orbit and trying to do as much research as possible. I have been reading the posts about him that go back to 2004 and it seems that everything I have read about the dog himself is very positive- excellent structure, great hips, great temperament, great bitework, confident, good with people, just a fantastic dog in every respect. What I have read about some of the progeny is a little concerning. There are some posts stating that some of Orbit's progency lack character, lack confidence, are fearful, have no drive and have serious health issues. What is the latest general consensus on his progeny?

I agree 100% that the bitch has a big part in what characteristics the pups have and that is why I am asking. A good bit of time has passed since those posts about Orbit's progency and so I am sure it is more clear as to what the facts are now. I am quite excited about the Orbit grandpup and am hoping to hear positive remarks!

I always liked Orbit very much and was also disappointed about the negative comments re his progeny, not only with regard to temperament (which is surprising) and health issues but general quality as well. I will be interested to see if there are any more comments on this.

As the owner of an Orbit son and daughter, I can tell you that Orbit is producing a fair amount of oversized progeny. As far as temperament goes... Both the son and daughter have good temperaments, but the male does not have much drive. We are very pleased with the bitch as she is excelling in both obedience and herding at just 17 months of age.
I hope this helps and good luck.

Thank you for the information! Unfortunately, I am now putting off looking for a puppy because me female rescue was just diagnosed with epilepsy, so I need to devote my time, energy and money to her right now.
