So before I get completely blasted off the board for asking a ummm fashion question-
I already have my own thoughts and opinion on why the track suit today, but I wonder about the history.... I'm guessing that a long long time ago handlers were mostly officers in uniform...?  Then some where along the lines nylon, Adidas and GorTex came on to the field.  What are your thoughts....?  Photographs in your replies are highly encouraged

I don't think it has anything to do with history at all.  It is because of comfort and presentability on the field.

The track suites/warm up suits, jog suits, or whatever you want to call them, are just a "step up" from jeans and sweats or t-shirts.   It also makes it possible for club members to show mutual support, or "school pride" by having several of them in the slub track suits at big trials.  Plus, they are still comfortable, as the track suits are usually looser than jeans.

I prefer  cheap hawaiian shirts,  Like camoflage for "fat people"...
