I am new here and am trying to learn my way around. I am just learning all about the GSD despite having had one that may or may not have been purebred for the past 10 years. I recently(Oct 08) had to put her down due to severe hip dysplasia. After 3 months I was going crazy as I am used to having a dog. I started looking on CraigsList and at Rescue's. I found my GSD Zisso on CraigsList. I don't know how to post pictures here, if someone could help me out ...seems I managed to post one the other day, but I can't find it now :(
Anyway, I look forward to getting to know some of you here
Respectfully,
Bev

I did, in the meantime figure out how to post a pic, and did so somewhere of my guy, but will add him here too cause I Love to show him off.
I also want to say that you all here seem much more friendly than other parts of the forum(threads) where people seem so serious(with due cause I am sure) Heck, I don't have a clue how to decipher a pedigree yet...LOL...I have no idea what names are good to have in the bloodlines and which ones aren't and I have no clue what linebreeding is. So I have just been cruising around the site reading all kinds of threads and coming up with tons and tons of questions with no one to really answer them...LOL
Looking at his pic here I want to explain that on the left side of his head, he had a wound from some dogs that did not appreciate him greeting their horses. I adopted this dog on Feb 7, 09 and the wound at that time was still open, it has healed nicely and the fur is growing back, so hopefully it will grow back in black to look like the right side. I so adore this boy. He has made me so happy and I have no regrets :) Here is his Pedigree: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/595041.html
Thanks again

Welcome Bev,
This forum is a great place to learn information about gsd's, especially for newbies. There are a lot of very friendly, knowledgeable people who are very willing to give advice. Your new boy is beautiful, that is wonderful that you were able to give him a new home. Just curious, why was he being rehomed? I love his silly smile in the picture you posted.

Tygerlily,
Hi and thanks for the warm welcome.
I have found this site to have an overwhelming wealth of info for sure!
Zisso was being rehomed because the former owners were dealing with an ongoing family illness, to make it short. I got a few different stories from his previous 'mom', but this is the first one she told me. They live on 40 acres, have 4 children, at least one horse, and had three GSD's. They were all male, the olderst being Z's half brother and the other being Z's littlemate, Vito, who was alrger than Zisso. Either way, I am happy to have him! He was crate trained and housebroken when I got him, but was not groomed, nor did he have even the basic Obedience, so we are in OB class at our local PetSmart. He definitely keeps me on my toes :) and that is a good thing for someone like myself.
