Hi all!!!
I just called the AKC & for $ 20.00 they let me change my pups name, she was born in October, I wasn't sure if I could, usually if I noticed something amiss on the pedigree they would change it right away for free, this time I just wanted to add one word to the beginning and they said no problem.
that was easy!
So now she is "Ultraviolett Von Ryanhaus"

She could care less, as long as she gets a treat when we call her!

If you buy an import dog, AKC will allow you to change the name as well. I have Sam von der Moschel, 7 years old with litters on the ground in Germany and on the way in the USA, and AKC sent me an email telling me that they knew how important names were to new owners and for the low price of $20, he could be named whatever I wanted him to be named.....

Hey folks. Breeders give their pups names. Please leave them alone!

I believe the OP BRED the dog.

So, if what the poster says is accurate, and imported dogs' names can be changed at whim, what does that do as far as anyone, especially breeders, researching siblings and siblings' progeny to get as much information as possible for possible breedings? Seems like a good way to render every breeder to the level of a BYB--flying blind.

I definitely don't agree with changing the names of dogs you haven't bred or imported dogs, however I do think it's a nice thing to have available if you decide to do what the original poster did.

I once found a dog I bred, sold as a pet, entered in the very first USA Sieger show. The owners had changed the dog's name to Moonshadow's Desiree vom Haus Roecker. Talk about a mouthful! It took me years to live it down, especially when the dog was placed last for having two missing teeth! We didn't have Limited registration back then. I have no doubt they bred her...
I wonder what they named all the pups. Argh.
