can a pregnant female dog be given clavamox 250mg safely without it affecting her puppies?

I do not think you can give her that.  When my dog was bred and possibly pregnant my vet would not give her any antibiotics, he told me she could lose the puppies.

What is the reason you feel the dog needs it? Is it prescribed by a vet? In general, it is always better to not use any drugs in pregnancy, but, depending on what the problem is, it may be necessary.

From the drug literature:
------------------

WARNINGS: Safety of use in pregnant or breeding animals has not been determined. Store in a

dry, cool place at temperatures not above 25°C (77°F). Do not remove from foil strip until ready to

use.

-----------------

What this means is no one knows because it has not been tested in dogs formally during pregnancy. On the other hand Marvista Vet site, which personally I feel is very good, says it is felt to be safe in pregnancy and I know of other dogs who have been prescribed it during pregnancy. It is best to discuss this with your vet, if you have not already done so. A serious infection can kill the pups and/or your dog too!

I was asking for a friend who had a brussel griffon female.  my friend was freaking out last night, she said the dog acted really sick, diareah, possible fever ect.  the woman lives 6 hours from me and I was just trying to calm her down.  She had some clavamox and wanted to know if it was ok to give the little dog. She ended up not giving her anything but a little benadryl incase of a bug bite reaction.
the dog is alot better today, I think she just ate something she shouldn't have.  IF the dog was pregnant, she would be due in 2 weeks. but thats a big IF.  if she was it would be 1 pup, but its highly unlikely.

but the little girl is doing better, and owner is starting to relax.  thanks to the people who posted with their responses.

Clavamox is safe to use on pregnant bitches..My vet has prescribed both Clavamox and just plain Amoxcillin , which is what Clavamox is.with another added chemical..

I would personally use Amoxcillin..I kept both when I had shepherds .

Do not use Flagyll on a pregnant bitch.

I have used Albon in place of it.or Amodium Ad for Diahrea.
