WE NEED TO FIGHT BACK

No one seems to mention the hundreds of thousands of happy dogs and caring owners that have existed happily side by side for years.

In every walk of life, there will always be people who bring the rest of their hobby or pursuit into disrepute. But, for example, just because some athletes take drugs, it does not mean all athletes are cheats and the Olympics should be stopped , or whatever. The same logic applies to dog breeders...some bad, a lot good, some fantastic! Jemima and those like her have to accept that we all have a right to enjoy superb events like Crufts, where dogs can be seen having a good time with their caring owners. It’s a place where many will be learning about health issues, training, nutrition, and many aspects of caring dog  ownership...yet these people knock it all the time, and of course are unlikely to attend to see the reality.

WE NEED TO STAND UP AND BE COUNTED.

 What's wrong with this?

Judges at Crufts on high alert for dogs that show signs of poor health

Valerie Elliott, Countryside Editor

Judges at Crufts next week are under orders to remove unhealthy animals as part of a campaign by the Kennel Club to save pedigree dog showing from extinction.

If the KC are so worried about "unhealthy dogs" being shown, then why do they not go back"as backwards seems to be their direction" to vet checks before entrance to all shows as they used to do years ago.
After all the vets are the professionals not the judges, then the judges can get on and judge, safe in the knowledge that all dogs before them are fit and healthy.
Just a thought!!

Oh Look dear jemima strikes again!!  Having now emailed this lady on 2 seperate occassions and received no response unfortunately we are once again at the hands of 'the gutter press' - as a famous journalist book once stated Jemima has " power without responsibility".  I will post both my personal emails to her for you all to 'see' that unfortunately  reasonableness does not receive a response, with individuals like this behind our media is it any wonder our general public are forming the opnions they are.

PS: SueB as anticipated you were 'right' all along!

Email Number 1 regarding the crufts protest(s):

I note that you have been uploading other footage that you have in your research for PDE. I have watched with interest what has been said esp. the 1985 footage where I find it is a shame this footage was not part of your main programme as I believe it demonstrates your point entirely - that in so many years the KC with full awareness have not sought to act by enforcing 'laws' for breeding programmes to ulimate protect the health and welfare of the breed.

I write to you now Jemima as a balanced individual a 'human', being able to assess two sides of the coin relatively impartially, as when I see that crufts is going to be a potential 'flash point' this year with possibly the biggest protest ever done. I become extremely concerned, especially as they are siting your programme and PETA - in the same sentence (something which I belive you have denied you are involved with) as 'reasons' for the protest. Do you believe esp where PETA is concerned that this 'protest' can remain to the point? The 'grapevine' also suggest a more sinister motive on pastoral day, BIS day possibly where many of the breeds you highlight will be in attendance. My concern is not only for the humans concerned but more for those dogs you said quite rightly in your programme have problems - it is my fear that they ultimately will become the 'target'. People with less than stable mind do some very sinister things in what 'they' believe to be 'your point'. My request therefore is that you speak publically with regards this in the media as you have that power available to you, maybe put differences aside for a moment with the KC and speak as one - have you the strength of character to do such a thing?. I sincerely hope you will not be in attendance to 'film'?

My question remains the same as always, whilst I do believe PDE raised some very valid points many of which do need addressing immediately by the KC and breed councils - which incidentially many are begining the process, did you intend for such a sinister approach, such skewed views of what proports to be your view to be in many peoples minds?

Kind Regards as always

email number 2 sent yesterday as a result of the times article:

I note that once more you are intent on whipping up a storm, I now have to question your motives are you really interested in the health of pedigree dogs or simply to insite the KC?

Quote "So which is it to be? The Kennel Club that still resists mandatory health testing for dogs, and frets about the “outside interference that plagues us” (as Ronnie Irving, the chairman, wrote recently)? Or one that recognises that everyone who cares for pedigree dogs has a right to a view on how we safeguard their future? " and you Jemima where's your answers, where's your 'help'?. You were asked on this forum to help our breed work with us not against us with those of us who genuinely care for the health and welfare of our breeds, instead what do you quote, you quote the sinister element in the gsd folks, that survives in every walk of life rather than the 'fact' that you had been asked directly to help those excellent breeders whom have ben working toward the 'health of the gsd' for many many years - but this does not make good stories does it?. You also commented on this board with regard the 'alsatian' that you considered this to be more akin to 'type' a dog that has little or no health tests, now was this your lack of research? A little cock up of the facts from the Jemima Harrison camp?

I would like to think that as I have been nothing but reasonable with you that you would afford me the same respect in the form of a reply, however as was said to me some time ago I wouldn't hold my breath as I may die before I got a response. Lets just hope that all my (healthy and I can prove it scientifically!) dogs 'survive' crufts - yes a hobby for me not a business and yes my dogs are also fit for function and prove it on a daily basis! - and more importantly the 'protests' that are set to happen on the back of PDE - are you not concerned that the 'rumors' of letting dogs 'free', spraying acid and generally scaring dogs and people is a good approach to promoting the health of pedigree dogs even as PETA suggests they are better off scared and dead than shown??.

Wish me luck although I will probably witness you first hand as I've no doubt you'll be lurking somewhere.

Kind Regards

Liz

My dear Carebear,
As to the PS in your first post, please believe me when I say In this particular instance I absolutely gain NO Pleasure at all from being 'RIGHT' and how much I would prefer, indeed wish I could say I was wrong.

What I must say though is how so very pleased I am that you sensibly made the decision not to hold your breath. The world of Pedigree Dogs needs people like you to stay around for a very, very long time.

Take Care Pacos Bear and same to all who are going to Crufts - Beware the Snake in the Grass !!.

Sue B
