Thanks for that link John.Any thoughts on Dr.Raisers new SV2000 club and its intentions?Could this clean up the politics a little bit?

Hi Domenic,

This club has been around for some time now.  Dr Helmut is very clear. A) He is not breed focussed and secondly workability is definitely the top priority

Their outlook and concept it pretty cool. ,but surely a different one than the older outlook of the current SV. I would think that this new Talentsichtung would catch on in Europe as well the USA. Who knows?

Knowing that the achievement of a Schutzhund 1 title

is very dif

ficult today, the start into breeding is fairly easy

in the new club. All individuals have to be documented at

a Talentsichtung (Talent inspection) at the age of twelve

months the earliest. If there is no reason that excludes

the dog from breeding such as hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia,

hanging ears or missing testicles, etc. the dog is

after this allowed for one mating.

Domenic, the ideas behind Dr. Raiser's new organization were formulated long ago. Dr. Raiser fell from favour with others in the S.V. due to some of his statements regarding how the GSD should be restored to a true working dog. I have not kept up with anything that happened since his split (read expulsion) from the S.V. and have long wondered what has come to pass since that time. You can find some threads on the PDB; just query the last name.

So we will see this in a couple of months? Interesting, to say the least, for I certainly want a peek at what he is developing. Will the S.V. 2000 ever really compete with the S.V.? I do not see how it could due to the sheer size and history of the S.V.. But it may force the S.V. to take a long, hard look at some of the questionable things that have occurred in recent years and determine where they go from here. And I think if that occurs, then Dr. Raiser will achieve his success in an indirect manner.

Guys, thanks for the update. Time will tell!

Best Regards,
Bob-O

lets not forget that Helmut Raiser tried to put some of these ideas into the SV while he was the National Breed Warden. as Bob-O said, hopefully his intentions will cause enough of a stir to open the eyes of enough people to actually make a difference. john
