Or perhaps it is just I who is confused.  See Tox Moorbeck:

I would have thought from the pic that he is a heterozygous sable with a B/T recessive lending the blanket pattern to his tipping.  YET look at his parents -- surely neither is a sable.  So must I assume that Tox is a B/T??

i know nothing about the genetics of color but he looks sable to me

as does his sire's dam Jitta von Batu

Both are black and red dogs with a saddle which in my opinion is less than ideal. But nonetheless, they are not sables.

We all decided elsewhere that Viechen Arlett was a sable yet Tox Moorbeck is not.  Hmm.  My eyes are shot!
