Bucko

Ok, we need a tutorial from the more knowledgeable folks around here on Fero.  Obviously, he was extremely important.  Appears in the pedigrees of thousands of working dogs.  The pdb shows over 8500 dogs linebred on Fero.

What should we think of him?  What do you hope for in dogs linebred on him?  What bloodlines work well with his?

Thanks!

Read his Koer(its in German here)-it explains it all. Tall, strong boned, expressive, stretched male. High withers, firm back, slope croup is pronounced. Very good chest proportions, upper arm is straight, elbows are more firm, powerful rear quarters, straight front. Walks straight front and back, push from the rear is powerful, front reach should be more free. Sound carefree temperament, hardness courage and fightdrive pronounced; does out.

He passed on alot of his notable quality attributes to his progeny (a talent not all great males have)--an awesome dog AND sire. He's noted as one of the greatest field trial dogs of the 90's. Averaged 80lbs, 25 12" tall.

I've had the honor of owning an imported blk/red Fero daughter, and I have a solid black intense yet stable girl line-bred 4-5 on Fero. I'm not a working line person, but  for Fero!

Shelly, do you remember many months ago when you promised some candid shots of Fero?  I noticed one of your other threads mentioned you had been going through boxes...hopes raised  "jest a tech"  Pretty please?

i have 6 dogs with fero in their pedigree.  fero/fado is my favorite breeding.  fero/mink is my least favorite.  these are my personal feelings.  each handler has to decide for himself what he wants in a dog and what the dog will be used for.  i have no fear of fero linebreedings if the combination is right and it produces a balanced dog.  15 yrs ago i would never have guessed i would even have 1 dog of fero lineage.  i was over-cautious and very reluctant.  at this point, i really like to see fero once or even twice on a pedigree in the 3rd or 4th generation back.

I hear you Patricia, I have one female that is Fero free, everybody else is Fero linebred, and most of that through Troll vd bosen Nachbarschaft!  Just to be safe, I bred the Fero free female to a linebred Fero male, I would hate to run out of Fero blood!

I love the video of Fero, I just wish there wer some good quality informal pics out there!
