Some people shouldn't own dogs. Another Pit Bull dead. I agree with the officer though, he prolly did need shot.

another killer of the streets.

any dog that will invade another dog's yard and attack it needs to be shot, and the sooner the better,

i only hope that the GSD isn't put to death also.

Very irresponsible dog owner. Goes to show how fragile human flesh is against the hard bite of a dog who bears down.

Thats quite an incident.

Poor baby, you can see it in his eyes, he fought hard to protect his home and his life. I sure hope they don't put him to sleep. Hopefully the circumstances of this whole ordeal will be reviewed carefully.

The guy that got bit, the Pit owner, will probably sue the GSD owner and the athorities will want to kill the GSD for biting someone.

He's a hero, he fended off a killer and risked his life doing so.

Lets hope the GSD owner has the strength and funds to defend his dog,  now that the "athorities" are involved.

Im not defending the owner, as responsibility is paramount in owning powerful dogs.
But I had a GSD bitch years ago, that WOULD invade other dogs territory and ensuing fights were common.

She was very dominant.
But was to this day, the greatest dog Ive ever owned.
A Natural Protector, easily trained on the sleeve, very civil, she hunted  with my bird dogs and pulled sleds.
Just an awesome dog.

This is a Zio media sensationalized story, some still buy into it.
Dog fights happen.
They shouldnt but they do. Such is life.

We need to remember, dogs don't understand property lines, if they are dominating, they will try and take everything they can, especially these powerful breeds.

It would seam that the GSD did its job, pitt  trespassing, owner trespassing, and what sort of fool puts his arm between 2 such powerful jaws .Im glad there were no children in the yard. Im sorry that the guy got hurt as well as loosing his dog but some people just should own lg dogs. It could have been alot worse.

There is no defending the pitts owner.  You are completely responsible for your dog.  I could see a dog getting loose once.  But if it happens again and again and invade another dog's territory you are an irresponsible dog owner and the dog should be taken and a more responsible owner found.  People who let agressive (either dog agressive or people agressive) dogs run loose shouldn't own dogs, regardless of the breed.  Responsible owners don't let dog fights just happen.

Where I work there are lots of loose pitt bulls and I wouldn't think twice of shooting one that came after me or my dog.  I  have chased subjects through yards realizing that there was a dog in the yard and found myself running from the dog.  I always try my darndest to get out of the yard with out getting bit.  So, far I've been lucky but it has meant losing the bad guy on a  couple of ocassions.  The way I look at it is the dog is just doing his job in the yard and I shouldn't be there in the dogs mind.
