Yea, sad ending ...but most of those dogs don't get home at all, so I figured a few years on the farm (with a lot of freedom!) was at least partly redeeming. Further, in most walks of life, Tippy would have not lasted nearly so long, so given his rough temperament I think he made out okay all things considered.
