Have you read "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle". I'm halfway through this book and i think its an amazing book especially for dog lovers.
Just wanted to share this with you guys

So far nothing to cry about but i have feeling i will be crying when i continue to read it today. I lose track of time when i'm reading the book, its really good

In summary, it is the story of a family in MN. They are continueing the legacy of a breeding program established by dad's father. The lines, dogs the dad meet on the streets and decided had characteristics to make the best dog, he created a "Sawtell" line.
The story revolves around the grandson, Edgar who is mute. He learns to train dogs in his fathers footsteps. A major crisis effects the family and Edgar does a lot of growing up.
It was an Oprah Book, BTW.

Shelley, did you ever pick up Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss? That book was spectacular, cant wait for the second installment.

Read it a few mos back, library ordered it from another for me. It was good,but took me awhile to get into it. The big thing for me was how they kept the litters for several months to prove their worthiness for the breeding program. THEIR training techniques so the dogs couldn't fail if put in the wrong environment. Then charged big $$ for well trained proven dogs. The ending could have been better, but I liked the way the dogs carried on...
