Uber Land

Is it just me, I mean, it could very well be.  but it seems like alot of new people have came to the board here lately,  just about all have asked the same questions,  and when they don't get an answer they like,  such as an old member telling them to run a search on the board for a previous discussion on the same subject,  the new people get all rude and pissy.

I for one would like to see people doing their own research,  some of the questions can easily be answered if they looked for themselves.  like how to choose a puppy,  what to look for when looking at a litter and so on.

yes there is no decency or desire to learn or search out. I have found many answers to my questions by searching the database. Unless we keep the trash picked up we will not be able to see the floor to find the tugs.

The new people do not "know" what they are looking for to search for it. Most of the new people do not even realize that the search option exists. Then when they do, the search is limited to 100 and most of what is picked up is not really related to the topic that they are looking for. Try to be a little more understanding and remember where you were when you started, and patient. Anyone that works dogs has to have that!

In their mind, they are researching, or attempting to. They could use guidance instead of flaming.

The Search function on this site is a very valuable tool. All one has to do is click on "Search Messageboard", enter topic,  and so much information is right on hand.

when I got started all I had was books and pedigrees.  I didn't get internet till I had been in the breed for almost 10 years.

I think some of the "old timers" can be just as rude as the newbies. I have my bad days just like most around here, but I do try not to post anything that I wouldn't say to someone in person. How many here, if asked an innocent  question in person by a stranger, would respond by calling them stupid or an idiot? Seems like manners go out the window when the keyboard comes out.

I don't mind when old topics are brought up again, after all, there are only so many things one can discuss, and everytime it is discussed, there are new people on the board with new. interesting comments/ideas.

Yeah, alot of dog people seem to be just rude in general, whether it be online or otherwise. Others are happy with you and act like your best buddy as long as you allow them to ride your coat-tail, explaining pedigrees, bloodlines, etc so THEY don't have to do the work. Then go psycho on you once you begin to hold up. I tell ya, I've seen alot, too, in my 11yrs with the breed. Some people, clients and breeders alike, are just unrealistic and over demanding.

Is not the mentality of today rather spoiled? They want the best things handed to them and to throw a fit if you don't jump when they want it. They need a taste of the real world.

When I decide on buying a dog or pup, I check for bloodlines/individuals I prefer/like. Then I check up on their pedigree and what they are producing-the quality needs to be in the progeny as well as the individual. I do online researching, talk to other breeders/people, read books, etc. Then I contact reputable breeders who have those lines and see what they have available, etc.  This can take months to years before I feel comfortable. And, I sleep on the idea-if it bothers me, then I scrap it  and start afresh.

If people don't know how to do it, they need to pick up and learn like the rest of us, or get into something else.

I am a newbie here and I've learned a lot from many people here. Not only am I very appreciative of the advice, but I've also listened to it.  It's only natural to get on the board for the first time and post a mesage to find your answer. Maybe the best thing to do, instead of getting annoyed, is to just simply tell the poster to do a search and they'll find plenty of info on whatever it is they're trying to find out. If someone would've told me that I would not have been offended.  Anyway, again, I do appreciate the time taken to answer my questions, whether it's what I wanted to hear or not. I hope you don't put all newbies into the same category ! Thank you!

no not all newbies are like this.  but alot here lately have been
I read a post earlier and someone who has been on the board a while posted a link and told the person they could also search the board,  the reply back they got was rude and hateful in my opinion.  like the article didn't help the person at all and other stuff.
