I was curious as to which hard wood is used. Most dumbells I've seen don't have a distinguishing grain pattern to them like oak or hickory would. Anyone know for sure?

Most SchH dumbells are made of unseasoned NON-furniture grade wood. That is the only way a set of dumbells can be made and sold at the prices you see today.

Eastern maple. The slow growth and density give it the weight.
