No James Moses,
Why?????
The GSD is ranked 3rd among the most popular, should it not have been swamped with GSD's?????
Has the American Show Shepherd gotten that ugly???????????

What a mean comment made just to insult. I'll answer your question: NO.
Make all the cracks you want, that BOB winner at Westminster, sure, she had faults, they ALL do - let's get your dogs' photos up here so we can see how ugly your dogs are - that Westminster winner had a better topline and better rear end than most of the dogs in the ads on this database.
"swamped with GSD"? Uh, why? The Top 5 in your breed receive invitations. And it's not like the old days when you could think well, I might not get BOB but I maybe CAN get a Westminster KC WD or WB, which was such a thrill, or at least win a class at Westminster. Nowadays it's all or nothing. No points, no Westminster blue ribbon from a number of dog show classes. You have to be prepared to spend a tremendous amount of money to go up against one of the most famous professional dog handlers in the world.
Not a lot of people have the desire or the financial ability, esp. this year, to do this.
I'm sure that there are a lot of people who, once they found out that James Moses wasn't there, are kicking themselves for not giving it a shot.
Who knows? It might be as simple as in the what, 15 minutes that entries were open LAST NOVEMBER, not a lot of GSD entries made it in - I think there were 8 entries. I don't know what happened to the others - but a lot can happen to both dog and handler in 3 months to make you change your plans.
I remember Hatter very, very well, Kinolog.

I can remember Hatter being on the cover of Dog Fancy... (for those who don't remember: Covy Tucker-Hill's Manhattan.) I kept that magazine for years. Say what you will, he was truly a remarkable dog. My first pet shepherd was of the American type (Design's Lux et Veritas). He had a huge personality and he was supremely protective of me. He was one of the most focused and intense dogs I have ever worked with. He was always watching even as a puppy in training. He was so easy to train! And he was my hero when I needed one. That kind of loyalty you can't easily write off, no matter what "type" shepherd you prefer.

I have never seen anything like it since. So strange that people were so caught up with that dog.
