Triodegirl, this is just a suggestion. It might be best if you change your Email address from the formula someone@someisp.com to a formula similar to "someone "at" someisp dot com". That is a minor inconvenience for someone who wishes to send you an Email, but it will stop spam that originates from entities harvesting Email addresses from the pedigree database.
I get the spam e-mail as well that I am sure originates from my posted EMail address, but fortunately my Email system captures it as spam.

If your going to post your e-mail address anywhere online you should know your gonna get it!!
Same here, my service blocks most of it out for me.

What's the big deal about allowing users to delete their account? My guess it has to do with advertising $$$$$$$. The more registered members, the more ad revenue. I'm guessing half the accounts on this site are no longer even valid.

I've started getting some spam as well, that I never used to get, and the only place I have posted my email is on this site. I am on Yahoo. I just mark any unknown senders as Spam and let Yahoo handle it. As Two Moons has already said, the damage has been done, and short of cancelling the email account and getting a new one, you won't be able to stop it. Just don't open any of them if you don't know who sent them.
