Julie at Vom Banach is very honest and very nice to deal with.  She has an awesome male, Aron and always gorgeous pups.

Based on the recommendations of several respected voices on this board I went to Vom Banach K9 in Port Orchard, WA on Saturday, January 3 (2009) - so my experience is recent. At that time I purchased a female and here are my impressions based on my visit and purchase.

  1. One of the things that impressed me is that beyond being beloved family companions, this breeder's dogs demonstrably fill the many roles the German Shepherd is bred for, from police K-9, search and rescue, narcotics and explosive detection, Schutzhund, personal protection, obedience, agility, tracking, etc.
  2. The breeder had two litters on the ground; and older group that is sold and awaiting flights out or pickup by new owners, and a younger group still inside the heated nursery building. My previous experience has been with American-type AKC German Shepherds, so I was struck by the size and bone the Vom Banach puppies had. All of the pups were social, inquisitive, and vigorous.
  3. The puppy facilities were large, well-lit, headed, and clean. The kennel set-up is very well done and obviously well tended to. As I recall the property is on seven acres.
  4. The breeder, Julie Marlow, is a veterinary tech, so her dogs health is expertly guarded from the moment they're born.
  5. I learned after buying my dog that the breeder maintains a private online forum for her customers so there's constant support available and a welcoming community of positive GSD enthusiasts is just a click away 24/7.
  6. I bought a three-year old Grim z Pohraniční stráže granddaughter and couldn't be happier with her. As I mentioned above my prior experience has been with American bloodlines and the contrast could not be greater. This dog has an excellent temperament, is intelligent, athletic, well-mannered, playful and devoted.

If questions are would I buy from this breeder again, and could I recommend her, my answer to both would be a most certain yes. Here are some pictures of the dog I bought from Vom Banach.

Guardiank9, I think we "heard" you as well the first time as the 3rd time.
