I have been looking at many different vehicles for the proper transport of my dogs. As we all know our dogs should be crated while in transport and all the vehicles I have researched will only fit one or two crates.. I do not prefer a truck as they are a pain to get in and out.. What would you suggest as the perfect vehicle

The dodge caravan is the best vehicle for transporting dogs in my opinion. It can completely level all the seats except the driver giving you the space of a truck but the driving of a lower to ground vehicle. Hands down my favorite.

Cool, I have looked at so many its insane.. and we know sales men/will push a vehicle just to make the sale.. I will check that out

I agree that the mini van is probably best as I have an explorer and only 1 crate can fit but in a perfect world if you can get a trailer...I love Marks it works awesome and we keep all the gear in the top and keeps the dog hair in car to a minimum.
And all GSDS fit in the back perfect of course our Boston still rides up front!

I have a '97 Ford Aerostar AWD I'll let you have very reasonably. Only 155K, less than 30% rust, one seat still intact, and only a dozen or so body bo-boos. The rear hatch door is useless since the attachments for the pneumatic lift broke off, but the passenger side front door opens AND closes no matter how cold it gets. I'm sure a good glass shop could fix the leaks around the windshield and the driver's side back window and you'll get used to using both hands to put the driver's side window up at toll booths. I'm told Whitney might make a kit to replace the moldy carpet.
The radio/cassette still works, but the oil pressure guage does not. I covered all those irritating little warning lights up with electrical tape years ago. Good thing I saved the roll of tape. It came in handy when I stuffed the air bag back in the steering wheel last time I ran into Bambi.
It has a good Class 3 hitch, and a trailer wiring harness with a 4-pin plug, but it was to hard to install it the normal way so I just left the wires long enough to reach out under the back hatch door. Just tie a knot in it when you take the trailer off so it doesn't drage on the ground or catch brush driving across unimproved terrain.
I'll throw the one remaining rear seat back in if I can find it under all the junk in the basement. The other one didn't make our last house move.
Ole Red still has a lot of life left in her and tons of 'character.' If you're not sold by now, I can throw in a can of Bondo, the two cans of paint, the new back bumper that doesn't match I bought 4-5 years ago, and a few clever dog decals, and a year's subscription to AAA-Plus to sweeten the deal. Be sure to request the flat-bed so you don't burn up the AWD.
Did I mention I got fired from both the car dealerships I worked at for being a little too honest?

I also have a Dodge Grand Caravan, if you don't need 4-wheel drive it's worth considering. With my big dual aluminum crate in the back it still gets decent milage. I'm a lead footed driver so I do expect it to get up and go. Been getting between 20 and 21 MPG for all round driving. Very comfortable.
When I need to take more dogs I use truck/camper/trailer set up.

I wish they made more vehicles that carry four #500 crates and all my junk, AND pull my dog trailer, AND have 4WD, AND get 20+ mpg like my Ole Red. The AWD Town and Country will only fit 2 500's and one 400, and forget taking more than a suitcase, your training bag and your purse if you plan to take a passenger.
My next vehicle will probably be an older full-size, high-top van conversion for going to events with the dog trailer. I'd never be able to get it up and down our hill in winter but it would sure be nice the rest of the year. I don't care about mileage because I don't commute to work. They are GIVING those things away these days. :-D
Poor Ole Red is going to have to last awhile longer I'm afraid.
I live in Lehighton, PA. 1.5 hrs. north of Philly.
I wouldn't trust Red to make it to the border.

And the honda you see above has 165,000 miles the seats are starting to come apart we will be sitting on crates soon.
That could be a good thing we can fit more dogs in the car!
