confiscation with out appeal - where do we live, the USSA or what?

I'm embarrased to say tha I live in the peoples state of texas.

The SPCA is a dangerous group that has far more power and authority then they should have.  Most of what is shown on TV. is the obvious cases of mistreat, however even of these you can see the over stepping.   They believe they are the saviors of all animals and everyone needs to be on their page.  I have seen all too often of them making decisions that dogs were starving because of slight rib showing.  Garcia himself said if ribs are showing the animal is "starving".  I guess that would be grounds to pull about 90% of all working dogs including Law enforcement dogs, not to mention many Mals that simply will never put weight on even if you try.

The sad thing is that many of these people are the same ones that join all of the other bleeding hearts that are on a mission in life to dictate what you or I do with our pets.  When I walk my GSD's with a prong collar, I get many dirty looks if I have to give a correction.  Many, many folks have the pet smart training mentallity.  Many folks go into this line of work because they have a very disturbing and unhealthy "rescuing" need that can only be satisfied through these lines of work, including those that deal with human issues as well.

We have a nation that is becoming more and more inclined to base all decisions on feelings, and misplaced feelings at that.  Good sense is thrown out the window and when you get some clown like Garcia and give him ultimate authority to decide what is not good treatment of your dog, then you have the judges that are in their camp, it  will lead to a huge ego that knows no bounds.

These organizations that usually have someone like PETA encouraging them, are IMO the greatest danger to our breed and all working breeds.  Trust me on this one, this will only get worse.  They will take extreme examples of cruelty and parade it around and use it to pass legislation that hurts our working dogs and those that love them.

I know I have gone on a rampage here, but this is something that I have seen coming for some years now, and it scars me.  Very little gets my attention like this does.  I know first hand that those in authority will label a dog "vicous" because they bark at them from inside their car when these people circle the car.

I gotta quit now while my blood preasure is still in the normal range.  Please watch and listen to what is going on in our nation in this regard.  Obviously, I am not talking about dogs that are willfully mistreated.  I love dogs as much as any.

"We have a nation that is becoming more and more inclined to base all decisions on feelings, and misplaced feelings at that.  Good sense is thrown out the window.............."

Another chaper out of Atlas Shrugged...........Its not whether the decision is good or bad, its whether it feels good or not.

This is NOT the time for tolerance, our great nation is in trouble and its citizens are too politically correct to do a damn thing about it.

What will be the next rigt that these types of people take from us?

by SitasMom on 07 February 2009 - 04:02

tolerance will distroy this great country.

we way well its for the best, or i'm too busy to get involved, or it doesn't concern me, or a nice person would do anything, or, or, or , or

the SPCA is acting like theives

confiscating private property with the rite to appeal is unconstitutional.

this is a very, very slippery slope we are headed down

When was the last time any of you actually read the decleration of independance and the constitution and the amendments. You will be shocked if you do...........

olskoolgsd, very well said.

It's sad that the local humane society that used to mean something is being taken over by the likes of HSUS and PETA.  This is an important reason to keep a good relationship with your veterinarian.  Since I need help trimming nails, my dogs visit the vets office often.  If I was ever accused of neglect I would have a veterinarians office full of advocates.

Animules brought up a principle that needs to be stored in the back or our brains.  Any time I am doing anything with my dogs in public especially,  I always keep in mind the mindset of peoples thinking today.  Many are led around by the nose by what they hear from the activists and take it as the Gospel.  They insist that Gloria Stillwell is the supreme dog trainer of the universe and that Petco is the place to be.  So when I am in public with my dogs, and people stop to make a comments I keep it in mind that they simply have been brain washed by people that really do not have a clue as to what our working dogs are all about.  I love to take the time to educate them on what these dogs are all about and how they need to be trained, respected etc.

My wife used to get annoyed with me spending so much time with strangers in town, but she understands now the importance of it and actually joins in with me.  People, (95% of Americans) need proper education, and where will they get it?  If you or I do not take the time to do it, they will get it from Hollywood nonesense that teaches that dogs are really humans in disguise.  I have found that people are extremely interested and willing to learn if you take the time to teach them.  It is one of the more rewarding things I do in this life today.
