The dam is a working K9 but the sire is just over a year old and has a floppy ear.  Do the police often breed their working dogs and then sell them to the general public?  Just curious because I've never run into that before.

Well my now 11 year old GSD was the daughter of a working K9. Her father was imported to a police department in my county in Michigan as a working K9. He retired from there too.

I don't agree with the sire being just over a year old with a floppy ear. I guess you can call it Mayberry if you like.  I don't have any regrets on getting the female I did.

I was talking about this particular ad only, and the website.

Okay, another questions now that I've thought about it.  Would a department use an intact female as a working dog?  It just seems like it would be a real pain with them coming into heat.  I know just how bitchy my bitches are during their heat cycle.

Sorry Two Moons.

A lot of police departments are breeding their own now, but I don't know if they would have her as a working K9 being intact and all. I guess it would depend on the police department. That is a good question. You could email the person with the ad and ask?

I have NOTHING against using working K9's as stud and I can think of one that I would LOVE to use.  He has his Sch.3 also but I'd still considering using him regardless of the title.

The ad says it all.
Its not uncommon to find intact K-9s working.
She may be a great dog, but he studs a year old??
The website is also poor in my opinion.
Yes PDs can breed their own, but are they on the internet selling them?

Looks very suspect to me. No health clearance listed anywhere, and all the PDs I know are very careful about health screening. No sense in breeding dogs that are not sound. I know PDs that breed their own, but the bitches are generally brood bitches, as heat cycles, pregnancy and whelping take too much time away from a dog needed to work...
