what is the working dogs view as a hole. On breeding a non titled bitch a couple of  times because they think the dog would be able to get the titles if she had not had a rougher up bringing.......????????????

I would want to see her pedigree background....also how are her hips and elbows? I would want to see what her lines has produces as far as temperament goes and also hip and elbows.  I am not totally against breeding an untitled female BUT I would want to make sure that the male is titled and hips and elbows have been xrayed.

Why would the male have to be titled but the female not? Im still unclear why the male is so highly regarded in breeding. I think the female is the most important part of the breeding.

Becasue archaic reasoning beleives the male contributes more to the pups genetics.  Same reason a lot of women in the '60s went to college to ge Mrs. degrees, gender bias, call it what you will.

On a more serious and less femi-nazi opinion:

In a perfect world both would be titiled.  In this case the owner wants to prove the bitch without title, he/she should make certain that at least ONE parent has training titles.   Its easier to see in a male if he has breeding potential cheaper, be checking sperm counts ect,  with a bitch, you really don't know till she is breed.  These are some of the reasons I breed my untitled female before spending the time and money on a title, I did insure her hips and other health issues were covered and consulted with my sch helper on whether or not she had drives ect to obtain a sch title to be confortable with breeding her and preserving working abiity in the pups.

Not sure what the poster means by "tougher backgroud"  is the bitch not bitting and they assume breeding her bring out the protective instincts??  I have seen this tried twice and not seen conclusive results.

On breeding either a titled dog or untitled dog my first consideration is the KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIENCE of the owner of the dog. I know many people with titled dogs who don't have a clue and are breeding because of the titles, I know many people who have untitled dogs that don't have a clue and are breeding dogs. I don't want a dog from either one of the two. After I talk to somebody, listen to the experiences of the owner, look at the pedigree of the dog, and have the owner tell me what they ARE doing with the dog and most important have seen the dog myself....then I feel comfortable. I trust my judgement in dogs more than any title in the world, and if you don't have the experience to assess good structure and temperament, should you really be breeding??????

well I will let my mouth probably overload my arse on this on. It is my opinion and that of the SV that untitled dogs SHOULD NOT BE BRED PERIOD! this is no reflection on anyone but breeding untitled  dogs is not productive to the betterment of the breed.Breeding untitled german shepherd dogs is part of the reason we are encountering restrictive legislation being imposed upon breeders . There must be integrity in breeding  or their will be restrictive and expensive legislation imposed upon all and that will induce corruption in the legislation.. but that is just my opinion .

If you want to follow German rules then go live in Germany. Don't try to impose their rules on the rest of the world. Any one with any sense would not breed a worthless dog.Titles are not the cats ass in proving what your pups will be like. Just like good x rays will not prove you will not have dysplastic pups .It's just a little bit of putting the odds in your favor. History on a dog is whats important.

Well your attitude   is basically the major problem. What the hell do we need rules for 'We don't need no stinking badge" We can do what ever the f we want. But god forbid somebody do something that crimps  wuzup style and it is get outta my country. Why do you think the freaking rules were established for.You want all the monetary perks resulting from over 100 years of selective and controlled breeding ;yet you wanna cut corners cause you are you.Now I suppose you will tell me that only people who have sense breed gsd.  Well either you follow the rules established by the breeder of the gsd or stop breeding  .Restrictive and compulsive legislation is the result of irresponsible breeders who want to do it "thier way and god forbid someone disagree then get out of the country! sorry but I like it here

Yup It's German shepherds, but last I checked I live in the USA ,I don't want no German telling me what to do with my dog or my life. Raymond you do not crimp my style in the least, I could give a rats ass where you live or what rules you follow. Just don't try to impose your rule on me or some dam foreign country rule on me . We have enough rules in this darn country with out  needing some half wit to try to impose some German law on us .I have a Yorkshire terrier also who's rule should I follow on what I do with her ? I ate Spaghetti last night for dinner , I didn't have no Italian guy here to tell me how to roll it around my fork. It tasted just fine. Eagle4u the one who wants less government interference now want some German rule on us.looks like you just lost some face. Now she wants more rules. Make up your mind melissa.
