Over the past few months I have been monitoring the content of this forum, i may not be an experienced member of the dog community but i feel i have a right to state my opinion on the breeding of the german shepherd world in general. Although there are alot of good people out there who want to do what is best for their dog, i have also been saddened by the amount of hate that is flying around. In the breeding world it seems more like a business - i hear alot of you say about improving the breed but just admit that your all in it for the money. (face it, if you cared that much you wouldnt be charging in excess of £300 for a puppy, you cant feed them that much!!) All day long all you do is slate each other, why cant you just enjoy the dogs for who they are, not what they look like.

Alot of you are against 'blues'.....whats all that about? Do you want them to become extinct? Dont say it wont happen, thats what they said about the Dodo. At times it seems like this forum is stuck in the 1940's during Hitlers regime in WW2, trying to pick the best and get rid of the ones you deem unacceptable.

So why would you judge a dog by the colour of their fur?????????

Whether you like it or not this is Racial Discrimination and it must be stopped, both in the dog world and the real world.

No you don't.

I'm pretty new here and I can tell you that breeding is a business to some and a hobby to others. It is to be expected that those who breed for money will protect their turf and use generalizations against what they perceive to be underminingt heir interests.  From what I can tell, most of us here are "big boys" and can take the ribbing.

Because the breed has standards, traits that are desirable, undesirable and disqualifying, there will be some discrimination for and against said traits.  Much in the way that some like or dislike red-heads...  Personally, I'm a lot like the SchH club of A that will let a mutt compete as long as he can perform and put temperament  and capability ahead of looks.  However most dgs who have the dsiposition and hability are usually pretty decent specimens of the breed.

If having a dog that others wouldn't breed makes you happy, so be it.  Just don't expect the world to revolve around your values... It just won't. 

I am a hobbyist and if I decided to breed, I would only breed to the specifications which I desire. I'm not against any other color or shape of german shepards. I prefer Showline against any other type of GSD. So am I discriminating... well the anwser to that is NO! Its the same way some people prefer to date only white people, or some people prefer to date only blacks. We live in a closed minded world, and people get upset if something is not the way they want it to be. I'll tell you this much, I had a breeder turn me down after waiting 2 months for a puppy. He decided to keep all of them for himself. I was really upset, but at the same time he is a true hobbyist and can choose what he wants to do with his pets. On the other hand there are people who do this as a business, and like any other business if you have proper ethics you should have a successful business. I own a wholesale diamond business, and I can tell you from the same stand point I pick very carefully who I sell too and who I dont. I sell to honest people, and reject the potential crooks. I give out merchandise to stores in the 6 digit figures and its is all based on trust. So trust those you want to, and try not giving business to those who dont care about their professionalism and desire to provide a excellent product.

Truth be told, I really don't care if blues become extinct, because that isn't a colour that the GSD was supposed to be in the first place, unlike the Dodo that is a species unto itself, not a colour, so why are we comparing an undesirable colour   with the Dodo bird?!

If you want the truth, then those of you who want to play around with the Standard can stick it in your ear!  The Standard is there for a reason, otherwise we'd all have mutts, wouldn't we? Or is that what you want? The true GSD to become extinct?!  Well congrats, you've pretty much achieved that already.
