I really need a little help....

I imported two german shepherds from Germany, they are about a year old now.

As of yet, their ears still haven't perked straight up like their other brothers.

Is there anything that I could do, or perhaps some suggestions on anything that I might have missed?

I feed them large breed Royal Maxi puppy food.

Thank you in advance!!

Is it the tips of the ears or lower down?

If it's the tips of the ears take the dog to your local groomer and have the hair clipped off. I used this on a few dogs that had this issue. Another thing did you leave the dogs together for long lengths of time? If you did its possible that they argued and or played to rough around the ears. causing them to stay down.. Just a thought

Sounds like maybe you should've already been taping them here before being 12 mos old. Some dogs who are real big or have thick hair will have heavier ears. That may be the case with your dog. And, some bloodlines have some genetic tendancies for 'weak' ears, which can affect one, or both.

There's different methods used for taping ears. I would try one of the tried and true ways of taping ears (I don't have time to go into all the different ways-I'm sure there's some knowledgeable people who do have time) and try that for a while and see if it helps.

I wouldn't consider surgical intervention unless considered absolutely necessary-cosmetic isn't exactly what I would consider a necessity.
Good luck and hope they come up for you.

Try a good quality GEL super glue. Just put a thin layer on the eges of both ears and hold together for a couple of minutes till the glue is good and dry. The glue will wear off over time and you can hope the ears are strong enough to stand on their own.  A year may be too late but hey, its worth a try.

Joann's method is used by a lot of Am. showline people. "Tear Mender". a fabric repair glue works best. Done this way, the dog will seldom notice after thr first day.

Also being crated a lot can interfere with ears coming up.

Can you post a photo of them, so we all can see?

A few years back I had a pup who's ears didn't stand. My vet used moleskin pieces cut down to fit in the ear. It worked after about a month. Don't know where to buy it though, maybe someone else has tried this as well and can tell you where to buy it. Good luck!

large moleskin patches can be purchased at REI, and some drugstores...

I suspect you have let these two pups play together.???

Never put pups together as they love the ears and biting is not too very good on ears.  I don't believe in taping ears so I have nothing in that area to offer .....give them each a cow hoof. made in the usa not Mexico or china...or round raw steak bones...keep dogs seperated for a long    long   time..

Add knox gelatin to diet and cottage cheese.

At a year old it could be genetic soft ears and not stand errect ever?  You could get Restone, cut a pattern from cardboard to the lobe only, then on the Restone, peal backing off as it will not stick, you need to get skin bonding glue to put on it, stick and hold five seconds it works,.  It will flop the ears over as they will be top heavy, but withing two weeks if they are going to go up they will be.  You will need to change and wipe the ears out every few days, it will look pink and chances the dogs will scratch them off for one time, then quit, keep them busy playing or learning something to keep their minds off the ears.  This stuff can be bought at a pharmacy or ordered by them as it is a human product  and will need to be ordered in the pharmacy section.  The glue should be in a metal can with a screw on top with dabber on top when opened.  A German lady from Canada told me this when a puppy of 5 mos came with one broken from leaning against the cage, his ear went up in 5 days perfect.  Good luck with this.
