If you had to buy Dog food from Petsmart or a Grocery store like walmart, Target or Sams, which one would you buy. I know there are some speciality brands which are best  but I would like to know which is a good brand if I had to buy from one these places with limited brands like Iams, Pedigree and science diet, Eukanuba etc....

Ok...honest answer.....
IF  I had to buy from a retailer like the above mentioned.......I would probably stick with Eukanuba.
The Walmart close to my home, does not sell Eukanuba,...but it sells Iams and Purina One.
We feed National Competition X-tra, and Evo Red Meat to most of our dogs.....except the puppies.
I don't know what other brands are available through the big Chain Stores, other than pet stores like Petsmart & Petco.

I would go to Costco and save myself some money, and get a decent food.

I am talking about the kirkland food bags. I went over the ingredients list and it's decent. Would not have a problem feeding to my dogs.

I'm not familiar with everything PetSmart sells but they don't have Canidae which is what I use.  I wouldn't feed my dogs any food that comes from any of the other places.

You can now find good quality dog food at some of the more popular chains. Petsmart now sells Blue Buffalo Wilderness...it's grain-free and decent. Petco sells Wellness and Solid Gold but seems to no longer sell the grain free formulas. Still, those are decent brands. Way better than Science Diet (ugh). You could also look in your local Tractor Supply because they sell Taste of the Wild.

I second snaiper69's suggestion about Costco's Kirkland brand dog food...if I wasn't close to some really great pet food suppliers, I would definitely look at their products.

Personally, I wouldn't buy anything that I've found in a regular grocery store. Beneful, Pedigree, Ol Roy...one Beneful formulation doesn't even contain meat, just "animal fat" listed as the fourth ingredient.

I feed a mixture of raw and Royal Canine.  but stay away from grocery store brands if you can.

I dont get it, royal canine, is very poor choise of food in my opinion, if I would have to feed something with such a bad choice of ingredients than I rather save money, and go with something like, Costco (kirkland) brand of dog food (I believe $25 for 40lb) or Vetschoice ($40 for 40lb) their ingredients are better and they cost way less. Trust me dogs love both of these foods, and they really offer great value for every $ you spend.

Plus I don't understand why would you spend money for RAW and suplement with shit? It just kills the purpose. Do RAW or just dry. Sorry I never could understanding the idea behind mixing.

check out these websites as the info there may help you: http://www.petfoodratings.net/dogs.html http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/showcat.php/cat/3   They don't tell you where the various foods are available, but at least you can see what the ingredients are and how they are rated, then go on from there. I am pretty sure Petsmart carries Wellness which is a decent kibble.  I hope this helps.
