I am presently looking for a puppy and am concerned about hip/elbow problems. At what age can x-rays be taken on a pup that are of any diagnostic value?

I have been told by the vet who has 3 gsd and trains with us that one year is as early as can any definative diagnoses be made. But I am just passing this on and will have mine taken in the next month @ 13-14 months.

Thanks Raymond. I had a bad experience one time with a dysplastic pup and don't want to go through it again. I keep on hoping to find an adult dog with the traits and temperament I am looking for, but adult male long coats are hard to come by.

Starchar you can have prelims done at 6 months it will give you some idea as to how your pup is at that time.
