Hey everyone,

Ever since I was a child I always heard never give your dogs chicken bones because they will splinter and puncture holes in the stomach.
I have been reading this message bored since september and have read several threads on feeding raw and I see that people do feed their dogs chicken, bones and all.

So my question is... do most of you feel that feeding chicken with the bones is safe? I have been cutting the chicken off the bones for my boys.. but it would be so much easier just to hand them a breast.

comments please.

Yes Chickens have bones.

Yes we feed chicken , bones , feathers and beak , feet , BIG FEETS AND LITTLE FEETS,
, if the dog catches it before we do..

all    RAW

RAW BONES ARE PLIABLE
COOKED BONES WILL SPLINTER.    TAKE THE SPIKE THREAD OFF THE DRUMSTICK AND IT IS THE ONLY THING TO WORRY ABOUT..

Cooking makes chicken and any other bones brittle and then they can splinter and cause serious damage.

Raw bones from animals like a chicken, just crush in their bite, even a puppy.  I started my puppy on whole drumsticks at 11 weeks.  Larger animals, like cows (ungulates) are really heavy and their weight bearing bones are too dense and hard.  Think about the size of what your dog could hunt and kill.   Chickens, rabbits, small rodents and probably the largest would be a pack taking down a deer.

Defrosting chicken in the microwave is cooking and a very bad idea.

Microwaves also kill all the nurtients in meat and milk and puppy food if you use it to heat the formula.

what kind of advice is that ??

start your puppy at 11 weeks ??/ good lord, what does that mean,   do you have to kill a chicken or rooster every single day in order to feed drumsticks to  this (WHAT) 1 pup ..........then what ??......  eating chicken legs at 11 weeks,   ........    how many chicken legs do you have ......oh....  i'm just wondering

i'm reading about all kinds of so called advice and recommendations regarding microwaves and ..............    cooking ..........
small rodents, and rabbits, and even large animals such as COWS, and DEER .........

dear yellowrose of Texas,

please forgive me but are you suggesting that you allow and "let" your German Shepherd Dogs, chase down the poultry and have first choice ((if the dog catches it before we do..))

OMG you cannot be for real ....

I like feeding chicken frames as one of my dogs staples.

Why do people think it is so wrong for dogs to hunt? I mean come on before humans started handing dogs thier meals they actally had to go, run  it down and kill it. Hell it was either hunt or die. Yes, if you are soft hearted then seeing a animal kill another animal can be hard to digest. But one has to remember it is nature in the raw  and we are talking about animals. Even my cat bring home a meal every now and then.

So many forget it is a DOG

we used to have an old tom cat named oscar myer  and every so ofted he would bring home a  freshly killed rabbit. Then he would go to the kitchen sink and draw so water  in a pot. Then proceed to cut some taters and vegtables and add them to the rabbitt.Man that cat could make good coney. Of course he liked to rather raw and always ate everything.  What suprised me the most was the most times the rabbitt was larger than oscar.
