I have never been into the show lines. I hadn't seen any that I liked their work. That is until this male. This dog is a V rated conf. showline dog imported from Germany. He is Sch1. Here's a clip of him.

Here's his longbite:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdY2SAAEduA&feature=channel_page

Why did the dog take the sleeve and run away? Shouldn't a PPD not look at the sleeve and mind the agitator?

This video was of the dog within a couple of days from getting off the plane from Germany. He had his schutzhund1 already and was trained there to bring the arm back. He will bite with or without the sleeve.

Were you attempting to answer my question as to why I haven't seen the show dogs at the seiger shows here work like this dog from Germany?

If you look on youtube you can find many showlines that can work sufficiently but they are not VA dogs, V maybe, many G and SG SL dogs. People who own VA dogs don't really care if the dog can work or not, show titles get bigger puppy prices.

"show titles get bigger puppy prices."  LOL that's for sure. I was very impressed by how this show dog worked. Guess I'd been in that "show dogs can't work" state of mind and it took me by surprise when they showed me the video.

Yup that would be right 4pack, you will find a lot of SG SL that are good working dog's maybe not over the top but could eat VA's for brekfast, but they are not over angulated or week nerves dog's so you will never see them going VA lol hahaha.

To answer you question its training for alot of them. Secondly there are many many "show dogs" that work much  much better than this dog in the states. I'm just missing the specialness with this dog. I would like to put this question to you though. Why don't working dogs look and move like this?

You get what you are breeding for. Also most of the working dogs bred for the work don't work like that.

Ceddyg I agree that the gate on the show dogs has a nice look to it but that video just shows how poor the working ability of that dog is. He doesn't out clean, he shows no power. His bites are not full and his attention to the helper is lacking.

Your comment, "You get what you are breeding for." says it all. Thought Max wanted us to breed a WORKING dog that looked like a GSD not pretty show dogs that don't work?

ceddy, I wasn't impressed by your video either. You think that dogs back looks good and that he moves well? Nothing spectacular from either dog posted but at least they bite and have some training.

Partly beause most are worked on prey and not defense.  Too many, as stated in other posts look at the helper as a "freind" and sleeve as a toy to be carried around, not dropped and a re-attack on the helper.  If in the protection phase a dog even looked like it was going to give a bigger fight than just the sleeve, it could be considered too aggressive.  Therefore, there is an err to the side of prey drive training only.

I have a showline male, pet quality, that I trained in PP, he would do body bites on a suit if asked.
