Hello GSD-World,

my name is Werner and I breed GSDs since 1985 here in germany.
I hope my knowledge about Your language is good enough and You do understand the words that I write here.
If not, I say sorry for this.

I have right now 2 puppies for sale out of pure workinglines.
You can see pics and infos about the pups at my website www.barockschloessle.de.

I made an Ad at this website and 2 hours later I got an email from Andy1988Thomas@yahoo.com.
He asked for the puppyprice and I told him the price, then he wrote back that he wanna take both puppies and he will send an draftcheque to my homeadress.

4 days later the cheque arrived in my letterbox.
The cheque had the HSBC sign on it and came from Oxford in Great Britain.
The amount on the cheque was 2500 english pound which is about 2300 Euros.
This was much more than he had to pay to me.
He informed me in an email that the difference from the puppyprice to the chequeamount must be used to pay the shipping of the puppies. He wrote that he arrange the shipping by himself and that his shipper will contact me after the cheque is cleared at my account and that I need to give the shipper then the money ( the difference from the 2300 Euros minus my puppyprice which is for me ).
Till there i had no bad feeling.

Then I took the cheque to my bank and they told me that it needs 14 days till the cheque is clear and I can get the money.
I wrote this infos to Mr. Andy Thomas and asked him again ( now the 3rd time ) to give me his full postal adress to make the ownershipchange by the SV in Augsburg and to arrange an AKC-Registration for him.
I also wrote to him that I wanna know where the puppies must get shipped to.
This infos are needed for me to make sure that the puppies have the correct vaccinations, because some countries need more vaccinations than others.
I told him that I need his postal adress also to send later then the SV-Pedigrees of the puppies to him.

A day later he wrote back to me, in his email he did not answer my questions about his adress  andwhere the pups had to be shipped to.
He only wrote to me that he has contacted his shipper and that I must send now 500 Euros to this man.
The adress of this shipper is located in Nigeria7Africa.

Now my alarm-signals worked !!!!

This guy thinks I am so silly and send money to someone before I have his money in my hand( his cheque is still not cleared ) !!!!
I will not send my puppies to someone who will not give me his adress and will not tell me where my puppies have to be shipped.

I used this website and typed his emailadress in the searchfield, and You know what ?
This guy makes his bad deals since 2004 !!!!!!

I found at the website here another breeder from germany who lost thousands of Euros by believing this guy !!!!
From this breeder I got the info that the cheques that this Mr. Thomas sends are all stolen from a Teacher in Oxford in Great Britain !!!!!
This Cheques will never get cleared at any bank in the world !!!!
Many people believed this Mr. Thomas and sended money to the shippers adress in Nigeria and so they all lost her money and none of them got any money from the cheque that was sended from Mr. Thomas.

I contacted some people here from the board and told them my story, they all told me to post my experience here.

I hope that I can help each of You and so I inform all of You about this story.

Werner

This scam has been around, in various incarnations, for a long time. (Nigeria is the tip off...) So sorry to hear of your experience Werner, but at least it sounds like the alarm bells went off in time. Thank you for sharing, people need to be reminded of the fact that these rip off "artists" are still out there.

Glad you realised in time that it was a con, Werner!  Your English is just fine.  Good luck finding good homes for your pups.

Werner-

I get a couple things like that every day.  If the buyer won't make a bank wire transfer directly to your account, wants to send you a check instead, RUN!

Your English is just fine. Your grammar and spelling is better than half the native English speakers you will meet!

Werner, Your English is excellent. It is much better than some of the Americans on this board!! This scam is called the "Nigerian Scam" and apparently was first started by Nigerians. I receive at least 5 posts a day with variations on the theme. I get them in English, French and Spanish. :-) EVERY single one I have received has a focus point in either Africa, Australia, or Britain. In each and every one in English, it is clear that English is not the writer's first language. (I cannot tell about the French and Spanish). Sometimes, the same idiot sends me the email three times in the same day. There is a special place in Hell for these people.

By the way-
The local newspaper I used to work for, The Morning Call,  had an article in it about 2 mos ago about the same type of scammers hitting their pet classified ads. One senior woman sent a small fortune overseas to "save" a couple of really cute (in the picture) hah ha ha) Yorkies.  Needless to say she never got the Yorkies a few thousand later, only requests for more and more money, which she handed over to the newspaper's investigative reporters. If I had a Yorkie, or someother small dog she might like, Id freaking GIVE it to her!

Pet Market Scamming- Its not just for e-mail anymore.

Your Welcome Shelley

Werner like she says if they are not willing to complete a direct transfer into your bank acc in Euros then run a mile, thats the way I purchase dogs from your country, in Euros direct into the breeders bank acc. It only takes a couple of days, will leave my acc in ££s on a Thurs and be in their acc in Euros by Tues am.
