i dont like to see any white.
and yes they are more than likely purebreeds.
many sheps i have seen have a bit of white on a paw or chest.
its in many of the lines.

I suppose you are talking about Show Line GSD puppy. Some puppies do have white on their paws and sometimes on the chest too and that does not make them not purebred at all and in many it disappears or becomes less apparent as the puppy grows up into a dog. It is a gene thing that a dog may pass to its offspring and breeders wouldn't like their puppies to have it. It is a fault but not a serious one, if you will not breed I see no harm in a puppy having little white on a paw or two but I wouldn't buy this puppy if I am not already in love with it and I have other choices to choose from. More experienced ones will tell you what to look for when inspecting puppies.

What else should you be looking for? I don't know what your purpose is for your puppy, but regardless of what you have planned for him/her please make sure the parents that have had proper health checks: THey should have good hips & elbows (either OFA, PennHip or SV). Do they or any known relative/offspring have any health issues such as cardiac problems, thyroid, EPI, skin allergies/dermatitis, epilepsy, Dengerative Myelopathy or hemophilia? Do the parents have the appearance, temperament, drives, energy and athletic ability of what you would like to see in your own dog? Of course, there are no guarantees no matter how careful you are, but at least your risks are reduced if you ask the right questions and the breeder is honest. A good breeder will help you select the pup that is right for you regarding temperament, energy and drives. If you post a message on this board asking for a good breeder in your area you will will surely get some recommendations.Good luck in your search. Realone,
what kind of dog are you hoping to get?
What expectations do you have?
My Kirschental dog has a couple of white toes, it happens.
But thats not important to me, everything else is.
You should be looking for something that fits you.
So.................................. what are ya really looking for?
