USA Office
"Therefore we are using the first alternate judge, Joachim Dux"

Judging assisments are also therefore pending

Thank you Baldursmom. The SS website has finally been updated outlining the schedule and I had to find that in fact, one judge is missing. Up to now no information on which judge is judging what class. Joachim Dux judged the female classes at the 2006 NASS and this information is in fact crucial to me. I called the UScA office today who referred me to Tim Burke, who did not return my call at close of business today. So I called the show secretary, Mary who had not returned a call I had left over the weekend, so why expect one again today?
With pointing this information out today, you have saved me from making a big mistake in making flight arrangements for my dog to come to the show as well as her trainer and myself, booking rooms and cars and paying entry fees. Even our handler and husband were about to make their flight arrangements. Thank you. It was on my to-do list for this week. You probably saved me close to $3,000.00, If I don't go, I guess we saved $5,000 and with the economy as it is the money is sorely needed for repairs in my home and a new car.

No information on your website. The UScA membership should be informed of what is going on. Otherwise those that do not, will be making their arrangements. Just like I was contemplating before seeing this most interesting post.
Why not put a statement on your website that you cannot be reached by phone and that the National Breed Warden is working on this?
Go frontal, as they say in the PR world. What is going on?
Hiding your head in the sand is not the way to go. Give us the list of alternatives publicly. I would have liked to have known the list beforehand anyway, as a member of UScA so to speak.

I am sorry you have decieded that the current judges do not make the trip worth your efforts. It is difficult to make everyone happy with the judges and the helpers. A lot has to do with who is available and of those who has seniority and thus is selected to do males.
I feel Its a shame the membership cannot trust all judges to be fair with all of the dogs. Please do not take that the wrong way, its meant as a general comment as a whole not directed at you yourself. I like to think that most people see the judges as impartial and that the judging is fair. Some do see that certain judges favor certain traits that their dog does not have, be it color, eye shape/color, basically the "thing" the judge looks for that is not really part of the standard but that sets two great dogs apart for that judge.
Jim,
I wish I had an answer for you. This year, a lot of thought was given to this subject. We are really hoping that acknowledging the performance phase with awards as they did in Germany will help show that USA does respect the working qualities of the dog as well as identify those dogs with ecellent working ability.
Bottom line is, we all need to remain involved, support our organization and celebrate the dogs. They are the reason we are having the show. Not eveyone will agree on placements or passing and failings on the protection work . We can make our own judgements on breeding or to help make desisions on future prospects. It is in this way we all shape the breed.
For me its kind of a Rocky I thing, I may not be the winner in the end, but I can try my hardest and keep dreaming.

Thank you both for all your hard work and dedication to putting on such a large event. Keep you chin up and remember you cant please them all!
I hope to see you at the SS with my new girl, no matter who the judge is.

Baldursmom, thanks for replying to me. Your post was well said and appreciated. It is people like you that give me hope for the UScA. Good luck with the SS, I'm sure you'll do a great job. Thanks for the updates.

USA's webmaster actually has a FULL TIME JOB, like most of the rest of us. He updates as quickly as he can. What would be the point at this juncture, without the name of the judge replacing Koenig. Presumably, you want that information. Wouldn't it be nice to have someone who can "Genie-blick" every single change instantaneously? Yeah, but the reality is that sometimes it takes a couple of days. Would be nice to have the information about a change in judges include the name of the new judge, wouldn't it? That won't be instantaneous, either.
Given the vote in Las Vegas this weekend, those who choose to tantrum and not attend because they were not provided with incomplete information instantaneously may find themselves with NO other venue, either. Think about it...
