A minor vent then back to "normal" (as normal as it ever gets here anyway   )

ALL loaded up and ready to head out to dog training.   Taking the big truck, camper, trailer today so we can have the cook stove, hot chocolate, chilli, and the new frames for the canopy that collapsed in the snow.  Dogs loaded, everything loaded, ready to go.

Double dang truck battery is DEAD!!!!!      Super big truck and battery so need a tow truck size vehicle to jump and can't use my van.  It was fine a couple weeks ago.    Time to get it on the battery charger and figure out what the problem is.  I thought is was only a couple years old so should be good.  I may get a new super heavy duty one just to be sure and not have these worries for a while.

So, dang and double dang, I'm NOT off to dog training today.

And now back to our regular scheduled programming.......

whatever is going to go wrong, goes wrong but only AFTER you are all loaded up and ready to go to dog training.  Nothing ever goes wrong when you are all ready to go - to the doctor, dentist, shopping for shoes, or to visit your in-laws.    Been there done that.  Have a nice day off!

Better to have it happen when you're loaded & ready to leave, than loaded & ready to go home! jh

jh, I had a break down on the way home last year, clutch linkage broke.......  At a light, in the right lane, same rig.  That made for a very very long trip home.  I think over an hour wait for two tow trucks, one for the truck/camper, and one for the dog trailer.    My normal 60 minutes trip took over 3 hours.

Yes, I would MUCH rather have stuff go wrong in the driveway before I Ieave!

Blood pressure report::::   take a deep breath.....

Most batteries, even the heavy duty ones, dont last more than two years in the extreme cold weather....It takes more cold cranking amps than normal..Hope you have a big commercial battery charger with the   200 amp charge start  option...

Having owned an automotive shop, my biggest scare is a dead battery..Take your extension, heavy duty cord and the battery charger with you and a pair of jumpers..Jumpers wont help if battery is bad,

We sold batteries and many times  the life of even the biggest name in the produce , sometimes just dont hold up for the life of 3 years...

Never happens when you just are going for a leisure drive;.MIne  has failed when I had 30 minutes to get to bank or to an appointment or needed to get a dog to someone that afternoon., and no one anywhere near a phone to come to my rescue.  Good ole charger will get you out of the driveway ,,but when you get to your destination ,  you have a truck that will not run on a bad battery...

And it is Sunday , too...Walmart doesnt carry your kind of battery!!!!!!    Guess you better go in and take a big breath and dont beat the hubby,,,,just eat some chili and crackers and post on the database...

I once drove half of the 125 miles to training in my RV before I realized I forgot to load my dog.

YR, too true.  Yup, deep breath taken.      The battery place I need to go to is not open today.  I think I'll just skip messing with the existing one and get a new one.   I'll be contacting my mechanic Monday for help.

SS, Now that beats all!  Though there was a specific horse show I was at, the trainer had all of our tack in his rig.  He was running late, I was warming up for a reining class bareback......   For those that know reining horses, I'm sure you can appreciate that challenge!

Cold weather is hard on a car battery.
Charge it, let it set a day, if it goes back down you need a new battery.
