Talked the ex into making the nearly 3 hour trip this morning to have Trigger's hips x-rayed. I thought he injured himself last month playing in the snow because he was having so much trouble getting around. He couldn't make it up on the couch or bed and was having major difficulties with the basement steps. I waited a month thinking he just sprained something and would get better. But he was getting worse. So decided to have some x-rays to find out what was going on.
Turns out that Trigger passed his hip x-rays with flying colors. The vet couldn't even see any arthritis and in her opinion, thought Trigger would easily pass OFA. Turns out Trigger has Lyme disease!!! I feel pretty stupid as I had no clue his symtoms were Lyme disease. My ex is on the way back right now with medication for Trigger and has an appointment to bring him back in a week for more blood tests. Can't believe how wrong I was.....sorry everyone.

Lymes is nothing to mess with either. It can have long lasting effects so make sure the treatment is complete and don't take any shortcuts.

The only clue I had that maybe it wasn't his hips was in the last few days he was falling asleep while eating.Figured it had to be something more than just his hips. I'm really relieved that the x-rays turned out so well. Poor guy. Should have brought Trigger in last month but doubt the vet here in town would have tested him for Lyme disease.

I took shots one year for lymes. A nieghbor has this new strain and its not curable, he layed in a comma before they found out what it was, could have died.
Another nieghbor was diagnosed last year with spotted fever.
Yes its a serious problem not to be taken lightly.
I live in a tick infested area and the only cure is a natural one that no body cares for... FIRE !
Thats a ticks only natural control, forest fires.
Keep the dogs on something like frontline, dip them if they've been in an infested area, you can dust them with Sevin, or like me, you take you chances.
I think the dogs do better than humans.
