I have been told that a lot of angulation is common in show lines, but not common in working lines. I have a 12 week old working line male. He has no show dogs in his ped., but he has a TON of angulation. I'm ok with this as long as it doesn't interfere with his ability to work. I have 3 questions. Is this too much angulation and do you think it will get better as he grows? Will it interfere with his ability to work? Here is a video i took of him. It's all i have for now. If you watch the video a little pass the halfway mark you will get a good view of it. Any feed back would be appreciated. If the link does not work try copying and pasting it into your browser.

Forgot to mention that the dog is NOT cow hocked.

Excellent type of puppy and I would no concerns over the hindquarters, if this pup is all working lines then well done because at the moment everything looks to be good, I wish you all the best.

Nice looking pup.

You don't think too much angulation can affect their working ability or movement? My pup almost walks on his hocks. Why is it that working breeders do not like a lot of angulation?

He is at a funny stage developing. He will grow into those legs and straiten out some. Post his ped so we can see the parents.

Thanks for the replies. He has everything i could ask for in a working dog. He has tons of drive and awesome nerves. I was just worried about him walking on his hocks. but this is my first GSD so i'm not used to seeing that. I heard it's real common in show lines, but not in working lines.

Hi Diago, in all fairness,  it was hard for me to really see his angulation when he was moving around, and I am on dial up, so I only saw a couple of seconds of it, but I just wanted to say, there is poor conformation in all lines, and you really have to look at the mom and the dad to  get a good idea of how he will turn out.

I personally don't like alot of angulation, and yes IMHO it does affect how long  and how well they can work.
He does look like a cutie, and all the best with him!
