I seen this ad in the classified section. I know its not normal to have blue eyes for a gsd. This pup is selling for $1500 any thoughts or opinions? What caused the blue eyes? Is there a cross in the breeding somewhere? Also, if you were to purchase this dog..would it be a big no no to breed it because of the blue eyes? Just curious to heard thoughts from professional breeders.

LOL All puppies have blue eyes. They will turn brown in time.

I am surprised they haven't turned brown by the size of those pups, did the ad say how old they are, when I have had pups their eyes turned brown way before 8 wks of age, when first born they are blue but don't take long to turn brown

could be they are blues - hard to tell in the picture. If they are blue, they can have blue eyes which will turn to yellowish. Or, they are mixed with husky. No, there are not blue eyes in purebred normal-color GSDs.

mkennel the pups are now 8 weeks i believe. One of those pups eyes are normal and selling for $1200. I just found it weird that a gsd eyes are blue.
4pack I notice on other breeds that the eyes stay blue but not the gsd. I can see them being light as new borns and gradually get darker as the weeks go by.

Looks to me like these pups will be blue sables. Perhaps it's just the lighting of the photo? Look at the nose pigment.

Here's the whole ad. I copied and pasted. Both parents are gsd. he doesn't mention if the dogs have been crossed anywhere.

they are blue sable pups, so of course the eyes are blue at the moment. they will change to a light brown or yellow color with age

I have never known a pure bred GSD to have blue eyes.
I wouldn't pay that price anyway..lol
