Hello everyone,
I have a 6 month old GSD puppy and his ears are still soft. They've been through several stages where they've been almost erect, but never upright. I don't intend to show him, but I would really like for them to stand. I recently read an article about taping or gluing a puppy's ears to help them stand, but I'm not sure about it. Should I wait a bit longer to see if they stand on their own or should I try taping or gluing them? Also, which method is safer and more efficent?
Thanks,
Megan

Hi Megan,
In the case of the weak ear gene you can try cutting a playing card to the shape of the ear and using a waterproof glue as an adhesive. You can also try glueing hair curlers. I hope this helps.

Hello Megan I would see a vet before doing either. It is not something you want to try to do on your own the first time. It is better to consult either a vet or breeder in your area that has experience with taping the ears before you try to do it on your own

Megan, log on to www.4gsd.net and click on "ears up". It's a good article regarding flacid ears.
